Promoting the pioneering role of youth

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always highly appreciated the role and importance of youth. In a letter to young people in 1947, he affirmed: “Youth are the future masters of the country. The prosperity or decline, weakness or strength of the country depends largely on the youth.”

Imbued with his viewpoint, in the process of leading the country, our Party has always identified youth as the vanguard and shock force in building and defending the Fatherland, one of the decisive factors in the success or failure of the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country, international integration and building socialism. Youth is placed at the center of the strategy of nurturing and promoting human factors and resources. Caring for youth development is both the goal and the driving force to ensure the stability and sustainable development of the country...

Under the leadership of the Party, generations of young people in our country always uphold the tradition of patriotism, heroic and indomitable spirit of the nation, not afraid of hardship, not afraid of sacrifice, ready to devote themselves, enthusiastically take the lead in all fields, making many great contributions to the cause of building and defending the country.

In the resistance war for national independence and reunification, Vietnamese youth were the Party's shock troops, ready to sacrifice for the country, with many seething revolutionary movements such as "Determined to die for the Fatherland", "Three ready"...

In the process of innovation and international integration, Vietnamese youth are always proactive, positive, and pioneers in labor, production, business, study, and training, notably the movements: "Youth starting a business", "Youth protecting the country"...

In recent years, the young generation of our country has achieved many important achievements in various fields, continuously winning prestigious awards in international competitions, contributing to affirming the country's position in the international arena. However, Vietnamese youth are facing many difficulties, challenges, and great "obstacles" in the international and domestic context under the impact of the digitalization process and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The growth, sustainability, and even the destiny of the country depend largely on the youth force and the young generation. We set a goal that by 2030, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party: Vietnam will be a developing country with modern industry and high average income. By 2045, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: Vietnam will become a developed country with high income. To achieve this goal, we need a young generation that is not only excellent in intelligence but also physically superior, rich in cultural identity, capable of competing and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.

Our Party and State always consider youth work as a matter of national survival, one of the decisive factors for the success or failure of the revolution. With this spirit, our Party and State have had many policies and guidelines, creating favorable conditions and encouraging young people and young talents to be ready to take the lead in contributing to the cause of national construction and development. Recently, in an article titled: "The future for the rising generation", General Secretary To Lam stated: "It is necessary to research and develop specific and appropriate groups of policies to promote the pioneering role of young people in production labor, participating in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, taking the lead in research and application of technology, national digital transformation, startups, and innovation".

Youth is the pillar to lead the country firmly into the new era, the main resource to build and develop new productive forces, and at the same time the pioneering team participating in new fields. In order for youth to promote their role well, it is clear that building specific policy groups is extremely important and urgent. More specifically, there needs to be strong investment policies in education and training to develop intelligence and knowledge, improve the health and physical strength of the young generation; have special policies to attract young talents returning from abroad to contribute to the country, and build a workforce capable of global competitiveness. At the same time, it is necessary to create an environment for young people to actively participate in the fields of digital transformation, green economy and national cultural projects, while encouraging young people to deeply integrate internationally; focus on nurturing moral qualities, ideals and aspirations to contribute in young people...

Our Party, State and people highly value and place deep trust in the youth force. To be worthy of the tradition of our ancestors and the expectations of the whole nation, each young person needs to continue to promote the pioneering, proactive, passionate and dedicated spirit of youth, dare to think, dare to do, dare to commit, dare to overcome their own limits, constantly strive to be creative, take the lead in labor, production and business, strive to rise up, realize their aspirations, dreams, ambitions and ideals.

In particular, the young generation needs to be pioneers in innovative thinking and strategic vision, looking far and wide, thinking deeply, doing big things; daring to confront and engage in new fields of science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, creating breakthrough projects and products, promoting increased labor productivity, creating businesses with outstanding growth potential, contributing to accelerating the country, making breakthroughs, developing quickly and sustainably.

With the attention of the Party and the State, we can believe that today's young generation of Vietnam will continue to be the pioneering force, leading the whole country in realizing the aspiration to develop a rich, civilized, prosperous country, and for the people to have a prosperous and happy life in the new era of the nation.
