To celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Party's founding (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025) and prepare to welcome the Spring of At Ty 2025, this morning, January 20, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, the Politburo and the Secretariat held a meeting with leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, and members of the Party Central Committee of all terms to review the glorious 95-year history of the Party; to express gratitude and honor Party members who have made many contributions to the Party and State.
General Secretary To Lam attended and delivered a speech at the conference. Also present were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; President Luong Cuong, former President Truong Tan Sang; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission, along with Politburo members, members of the 13th Party Central Committee and leaders of central ministries and branches.
Speaking at the conference, General Secretary To Lam reviewed the important outstanding results in most areas of the country in 2024, emphasizing that the achievements have been greatly contributed by former leaders, revolutionary veterans, and many intellectuals and dignitaries in the country and overseas Vietnamese.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the General Secretary stated that 2025 is of special importance, so more than ever we need to promote the spirit of solidarity, unity, and "dare to speak, dare to think, dare to do". According to the General Secretary, in order to continue to shoulder the historical responsibility of bringing the country firmly into the new era, in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to strongly innovate leadership methods, improve the leadership capacity and governing capacity of the Party:
"We need to unify our awareness and strictly implement the Party's leadership and governance methods, absolutely not allowing any excuses, substitutions or laxity in the Party's leadership. The Party leads through the political system in which the Party is the core; leads through ideology, guidelines, policies and exemplary vanguard, regular self-criticism and criticism of cadres and Party members; by institutionalizing the Party's guidelines, guidelines and policies into State laws; by mobilizing and persuading the people to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, introducing outstanding representatives into the State apparatus and through inspection and supervision work.
It is necessary to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in Party activities, Party inspection and supervision so that work is performed better, resolutions are implemented effectively; the Party and State apparatus operates effectively, efficiently, in accordance with policies and guidelines, with the right people and the right jobs; promptly detect new factors, good and creative ways of doing things; correct and adjust deviations or prevent wrongdoings and violations of Party regulations and State laws.
"It is necessary to continue to seriously implement the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee on promoting the building and rectification of the Party and the political system; resolutely prevent, repel, and strictly handle cadres and party members who have degraded in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, showing signs of "self-evolution" and "self-specialization", in conjunction with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and lifestyle," the General Secretary emphasized.
Referring to the central task of socio-economic development, the General Secretary said that the entire political system also needs to focus on effectively and substantially implementing the economic restructuring, associated with growth model innovation, building on the foundation of science, technology, digital transformation and especially taking people as the center, focusing on developing high-quality human resources. Along with that, focusing on cultural and social development and building Vietnamese people with sufficient qualities and capacity to meet the requirements of sustainable development, while ensuring social security, building a healthy living environment, mitigating natural disasters, and adapting to climate change.
Emphasizing once again that 2025 is of utmost importance and key significance for the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the General Secretary said that the entire political system will synchronously implement solutions with the highest determination, greatest efforts, drastic actions, with focus and key points, with the most effective implementation solutions, concentrating all resources and measures, striving to achieve and exceed the set goals, creating the premise for a breakthrough period for the next period.
General Secretary To Lam suggested: "Conduct party congresses at all levels, prepare for the 14th National Party Congress, focusing on two main contents: preparing documents for the Congress and preparing personnel. In particular, regarding personnel work, this is an important task, the "key" of the "key", which is decisive for the successful implementation of the Party's policies and guidelines to bring the country into a new era. Implement the policy of the Central Executive Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW and arranging and perfecting the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient. On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented the Gold Star Order to former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, the Ho Chi Minh Order to former Chairmen of the National Assembly: Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former Standing members of the Secretariat: Le Hong Anh, Tran Quoc Vuong; former Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong; former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Minister of National Defense Ngo Xuan Lich and posthumously presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to former President Tran Dai Quang.
President Luong Cuong and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man awarded the 80, 65, 60, 55, 50, 45 and 40-year Party membership badges to 15 former Politburo members and former Central Party Committee members.
