"We will continue to support Ukraine... and carry out our obligations without seeking escalation and without falling into a conflict with Russia, because we have never been in such a situation," the French president said. His speech was broadcast by the Elysee Palace press service.

According to Mr. Macron, "security in Europe is at stake." The French military understands the importance of the balance of power, so he expressed the determination of the French leadership to prevent Russia from winning.
He stressed the important role of the French army in training Ukrainian soldiers and officers. “We will continue to equip the Ukrainians so that they can defend themselves in time of need,” he said.
"Thanks to two laws on defense planning, we have doubled the defense budget by 2030... The accelerating pace of developments and the growing threats mean that new adjustments are needed. That is why I ask everyone to continue analyzing the consequences of the war... and prepare to adjust the military plan for 2025," President Macron said.
Earlier in May, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said he had signed documents allowing French military instructors to soon visit Ukrainian training centers.
"I welcome with pleasure the French initiative to send instructors to Ukraine to train Ukrainian military personnel. I have signed documents allowing the first French instructors to visit our training centers for a short time and get acquainted with the infrastructure and personnel there," Syrskyi said.
