The People's Committee of Hau Giang province has just issued a decision approving the Project on developing community tourism in Hau Giang province until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
Accordingly, community tourism development must be associated with local socio-economic development, resource protection, conservation and promotion of cultural resource values, respect for indigenous cultural values, community values, and ensuring environmental sanitation, security and national defense.

Developing community-based tourism brings benefits to the local community. Local people participate in community-based tourism as both organizers and beneficiaries, and proactively provide services such as accommodation, transportation, food service, souvenir sales, tourist support, etc.
Developing diverse and sustainable community tourism products and agricultural production models combined with eco-tourism, culture, history, art, handicrafts, traditional craft villages, etc.
Goal by 2025: Focus on investing, building and developing 3 pilot models in Vi Thanh City, Chau Thanh A District and Nga Bay City; continue to support existing community-based tourism sites.
By 2030: Continue to support the expansion of community-based tourism sites in districts, towns and cities in the province. Continue to support other community-based tourism sites, especially community-based tourism sites according to the district-level registration plan.
Focus on developing community-based tourism models combined with: Cultural, historical and spiritual tourism; Agricultural, ecological and experiential tourism; Culinary, shopping and resort tourism. Widely promote the province's community-based tourism products through the use of digital technology in tourism (smart tourism).
Overall upgrading of infrastructure, accompanying value-added services and extending length of stay; promoting tourists' spending when using community-based tourism products in the province, forming companies with conditions to develop community-based tourism in the province, creating jobs for workers at community-based tourism sites, increasing people's income from tourism activities.

Orientation of community-based tourism products: Based on the province's typical strengths, along with current market trends, Hau Giang can orient appropriate tourism product groups associated with the community such as: Community-based tourism products associated with historical - cultural relics and outstanding landscapes; Community-based tourism products associated with agricultural ecology, high-tech agriculture, new rural areas, traditional craft villages; Community-based tourism products associated with typical cuisine; Community-based tourism products associated with spiritual tourism.
Regarding tourism development space: Tourism clustering is determined based on two main factors: convenient transportation, geographical location and similarity in tourism resources and products. From there, Hau Giang DLCĐ can be divided into 4 clusters: Vi Thanh city and Vi Thuy district; Long My town and Long My district; Phung Hiep district and Nga Bay city.
The total investment capital for community tourism development in the province is 32,610 billion VND. Of which, the budget capital is 20,460 billion VND, mobilized capital is 12,150 billion VND.
