That is the affirmation of the representative of MISA Joint Stock Company (MISA) in protecting personal and organizational data at the Seminar on Information Security - A vital factor for businesses in the digital age".

In his presentation “Data Protection - Awareness and Solutions”, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hoang - Director of Information Security MISA pointed out the alarming situation of cyber attacks in 2023. A series of Ransomware attacks (ransomware) emerged strongly targeting individuals and key businesses in Vietnam. Statistics show that more than 745,000 devices were infected with malware, leading to a loss of 716 million USD. In particular, the form of Ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) - a type of malware provision in the form of a service with profit sharing is increasing rapidly, becoming a serious threat causing great damage to businesses and the community...

In Vietnam, the statistics on phishing and counterfeit attacks are extremely worrying, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hoang shared.

According to a report by Lao Dong Newspaper, 16 billion USD is the amount of money that Vietnamese people were scammed online in 2023, accounting for 1/3 of the total amount of fraud worldwide. Alarmingly, more than 25% of the Vietnamese population has faced scams on social networks, but only 14% of survey participants feel confident in identifying scams. Notably, in 2022, Vietnam ranked first in Southeast Asia in the number of cyber scams.

Mr. Hoang shares some common tricks of hackers today.

Sharing about some common tricks of hackers today, Mr. Hoang said: “Hackers can provide cracked software, use it forever, open all features, without paying any fee. However, the available cheese is only on the mousetrap. Those software often hide malicious codes and viruses with the purpose of stealing personal and bank account information. In addition, users' assets can also be taken by hackers by playing on the general psychology.”

In the face of the "storm" of cyber attacks, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hoang pointed out what should and should not be done to protect data for individuals and businesses.

Dos and Don'ts for Data Protection for Individuals and Businesses.

Notably, businesses should prioritize using Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions from reputable, trusted suppliers to protect data safely and effectively.

Mr. Hoang affirmed: “Software as a Service (SaaS) is an outstanding solution to help businesses protect data against the “storm” of cyber attacks.

Currently, the MISA AMIS Unified Enterprise Management Platform is built according to the SaaS trend with advantages such as a converged data center, automatic backup, and a team of experts who periodically assess security and monitor 24/7. MISA AMIS flexibly connects departments and external partners, while ensuring effective information security to help businesses operate smoothly while remaining safe from cyber threats.

In addition, MISA's SaaS service is especially emphasized as a comprehensive solution to help protect business data thanks to modern security features such as next-generation firewall (NGFW - NextGen Firewall), intrusion detection and prevention system (IDS/IPS - Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System)... At the same time, MISA's SaaS service meets international security standards such as ISO 27001/27017 to help protect business data at the highest level.

In 2023, MISA established the Information Security Alliance (CYSEEX) to support and rescue members who are attacked or have information security incidents. This is a forum for sharing knowledge and experience, improving the ability to respond to data theft attacks during the digital transformation process. CYSEEX regularly organizes information security drills to practice combat skills, helping units accumulate experience in preventing online fraud. In the first 6 months of 2024, CYSEEX organized 5 drills with the participation of 6 units, detecting 193 vulnerabilities, including 2 serious system takeover vulnerabilities, 60 serious vulnerabilities, 64 high vulnerabilities, 43 medium vulnerabilities, and 24 low vulnerabilities.

Being cautious in cyberspace and using SaaS software services from reputable suppliers are the keys for businesses to protect themselves against the increase in cyber attacks,” Mr. Hoang concluded.

As a leading technology enterprise providing software as a service - SaaS in Vietnam, and also the initiator of the establishment of the CYSEEX Alliance, MISA is committed to accompanying individuals and organizations in protecting data against cyber attacks. With MISA's SaaS service, businesses will be fully equipped to deal with threats from cyberspace and protect data comprehensively in the digital age.
