The situation of revealing and losing account information and login passwords to shared information systems is happening widely, therefore, people need to raise awareness of ensuring information security.

According to Hanoi City Police, through the work of monitoring and ensuring network security and information safety, the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention of Hanoi City Police discovered the situation of revealing and losing account information and login passwords to shared information systems in Hanoi.

Through analysis, it was determined that the main causes were that users did not comply with regulations and ensure network information security and safety, used default passwords, weak passwords; computers did not have anti-virus software installed or had expired anti-virus software installed, did not regularly update security patches; downloaded and installed software of unknown origin, saved passwords on web browsers, etc.

The disclosure or loss of account information and login passwords to shared information systems causes loss of network information security and safety, potentially posing a risk to public order and safety in the City.

To ensure network security and information security for shared information systems, the Department of Network Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention recommends users to:

Regularly update operating system security patches, upgrade application software; do not download or install software of unknown origin.

Use a computer with licensed anti-virus software installed and regularly updated.

Periodically and frequently change login passwords to information systems (maximum 03 months/time), set up and use strong passwords (at least 08 characters, including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and special characters ...); do not save account information and passwords on the web browser.

It is recommended that the unit or agency managing the shared information system revoke accounts when they are no longer needed to avoid unauthorized exploitation and access.
