Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai shared about 3 outstanding achievements of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024

On December 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to review Party building, government building and mass mobilization work in 2024; directions and tasks for 2025.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai reviewed three outstanding achievements that Ho Chi Minh City has achieved in 2024. These are achievements in socio-economic development; stable security and social order; and increased public trust.

Specifically, in the context of many difficulties in the world and in the country, the whole year's GRDP growth of Ho Chi Minh City reached about 7.17%; budget revenue exceeded 500 trillion VND (up 12% compared to 2023). 2024 is also the first year that Ho Chi Minh City's budget revenue exceeded 500 trillion VND. According to Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, in the context of general difficulties, the results that Ho Chi Minh City has achieved are very valuable and appreciated.

The outstanding achievements of Ho Chi Minh City are also reflected in the implementation of key projects with the participation of the entire political system, especially the Party Committee in directing the work of compensation and site clearance. Accordingly, Ring Road 3 is a typical example with the shortest clearance time compared to previous projects; the consensus of the people is very high; the implementation is very methodical.

Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai emphasized that the experiences from the implementation of the Ring Road 3 project will continue to be applied by Ho Chi Minh City to the North Bank of Doi Canal project and the Xuyen Tam Canal project.

With outstanding achievements in security and social order, Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai said that this is the first time in history that in the same year, both the Ho Chi Minh City Police and the Ho Chi Minh City Command received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the Renovation Period awarded by the State. According to Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, this is the recognition of the people and the Party for the dedication of the two police and military forces.

"Up to now, street crime has almost no place to operate," said Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai. At the same time, he also assessed that this contributes to the overall development of tourism, stability and people's trust in the armed forces and the city government. This is also the premise and key factor for Ho Chi Minh City to develop the economy and attract investment.

Another important achievement that Ho Chi Minh City has achieved in 2024 is the increased trust of the people. Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai cited that up to now, the people of Ho Chi Minh City have supported the people in the North affected by natural disasters with an amount of more than 330 billion VND (not including support from the city budget). Meanwhile, it was initially expected that Ho Chi Minh City would mobilize support of about 100 billion VND.

The figure of more than 330 billion VND has demonstrated the high spirit of solidarity and volunteerism of the people of Ho Chi Minh City.

The movement of people donating land to widen alleys is also a typical example. Accordingly, more than 170 thousand households participated in donating land to widen alleys with a total amount of more than 10,700 billion VND. According to Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, up to now, more than 2,000 children orphaned by the COVID-19 epidemic in Ho Chi Minh City have godmothers, with nearly 100 billion VND spent on care. This demonstrates the tradition of affection and solidarity of the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
