La Phuc Nhai is not only an outstanding female scientist but also an inspirational role model for the young generation passionate about technology.
La Phuc Nhai, born in 1995 in Sichuan, China, is now known as one of the most talented young scientists in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). With an excellent academic background and an early passion for technology, she quickly made a name for herself through important projects at leading technology corporations such as Alibaba and DeepSeek.
La Fu-jai graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Beijing Normal University. As a third-year student, she joined the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of Peking University as an intern. There, she determined her research direction to focus on natural language processing (NLP), an important branch of AI. After completing her bachelor's degree, she continued her master's degree in Computational Linguistics at Peking University.

In 2019, at the ACL International Conference on Artificial Intelligence held in China, La Phuc Nhai made a big splash when she published 8 research articles, putting her name on the list of the most promising young scientists. To date, she has published more than 20 articles at leading international scientific conferences, affirming her solid position in the field of artificial intelligence research.
With outstanding achievements, right after completing her master's program, La Phuc Nhai was invited to work at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of DAMO Academy of China's leading corporation Alibaba. Here, she participated in developing the multilingual pre-training model VECO and the open source project AliceMind, two of the important projects that helped Alibaba improve its AI technology capacity and expand its influence in the international market. Her contributions at Alibaba not only helped the company achieve outstanding technological achievements but also strengthened La Phuc Nhai's position in the science and technology community.
After working at Alibaba, in 2022, La Phuc Nhai joined Huanfang Quantitative, where she continued to research deep learning algorithms and modeling strategies. In May 2023, when CEO Luong Van Phong founded the technology company DeepSeek, La Phuc Nhai became a Deep Learning researcher there.
After only one year working at DeepSeek, she made an important contribution to the launch of the DeepSeek-V2 model in May 2024. This was an important stepping stone for the development of DeepSeek-R1, one of the AI models that is creating strong waves in the technology world. This success comes not only from Luong Van Phong's leadership but also thanks to the in-depth contributions of the AI research team, in which La Phuc Nhai is a prominent factor.
Outstanding achievements at Alibaba and DeepSeek have helped La Fukani catch the attention of many large technology corporations. In early January 2025, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun officially invited her to take on the position of Head of Artificial Intelligence Laboratory with a salary of 10 million yuan per year (equivalent to about 34.9 billion VND). This salary not only reflects La Fukani's outstanding ability but also shows the fierce competition between technology corporations in recruiting AI talent.
Regarding the invitation from Xiaomi, in an interview with Red Star News on January 25, La Fujai said that she is still considering before making a final decision. This shows her caution in choosing the right working environment to continue developing her career and contributing to the technology industry.
