Passing the entrance exam to a specialized class is difficult, Lan Nhi showed that she is not only good but also good in many subjects when she was admitted to all 3 specialized classes: Math, Computer Science and English.

People were even more surprised when Lan Nhi came from Linh Dam Secondary School (Hoang Mai District) - a school that was newly established a few years ago, instead of schools with a long tradition.

Lan Nhi took the exam and was admitted to the Math major at the High School for Gifted Students of the National University of Education (under Hanoi National University of Education). Lan Nhi achieved a total score of 29.75, 3 points higher than the school's standard score of 26.75.

Before that, she also received news that she had passed the entrance exam for the IT major (entrance exam with Math) of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences (under the University of Natural Sciences, VNU), with a total score of 20.5 (the standard score for the IT major is 19.5). With this score, Lan Nhi could also pass the entrance exam for the Math major of this school if she applied (the standard score for the Math major is 20.5).

Not only that, the female student was also admitted to the English major of the Foreign Language Specialized High School (under the University of Foreign Languages, VNU) with a total score of 26.74; 1.74 points higher than the standard score set by the school.

Sharing with VietNamNet , Lan Nhi said she was very happy because her academic efforts had been rewarded. Lan Nhi said she really didn't think she could pass the specialized programs of all three schools.

Talking about taking the entrance exam for a specialized class in many subjects, Lan Nhi said that, in addition to increasing her chances of getting into grade 10 at quality schools, she also wants to experience and test herself.

Ms. Mai Thi Hoa, Lan Nhi's mother, said: "The day she received the admission results to the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences - the school that she dreamed of and hoped for the most, the whole family was overwhelmed because at least she had achieved the goal she set for herself. At that time, she was so happy that she cried."

Talking about her studying methods, Lan Nhi said that she has no special secret but mainly focuses on listening to the teachers in class, mastering the knowledge in the textbooks and self-studying. According to Lan Nhi, self-study is the key factor that helps her achieve the results she has today.

During the summer, Lan Nhi often previews the basic knowledge in the next year's textbooks. Therefore, in the official school year, when the teachers teach, she feels like she has access to it once more, thereby grasping it better. After that, she will spend time doing many exercises to consolidate it further.

Ms. Hoa said that since she learned to read, Lan Nhi has loved reading books. Since childhood, Lan Nhi has been very self-conscious and proactive in her studies.

“My child is not an outstanding person, but his greatest strength is that he knows how to listen to his teachers and learns independently, especially passionate about Math. I think that is the decisive factor,” said Ms. Hoa.

Being a teacher herself, Ms. Hoa said that her expertise is in Biology so she cannot support much, the results come from her child's personal efforts. Ms. Hoa tries to follow closely and accompany her child by guiding him.

Ms. Hoa said that since the beginning of junior high school, her family wanted and oriented her to pursue English with the thought that it was more suitable for girls. However, when entering school, the homeroom teacher, who was also a Math teacher, discovered Nhi's ability to learn Math and inspired her to study this subject. Since then, Lan Nhi has been passionate about Math and participated in many excellent student competitions. However, Lan Nhi still reminded herself to focus on studying all subjects, especially English.

“When receiving encouragement from teachers, Lan Nhi will be very determined. When going to school, Lan Nhi is also very enthusiastic. She also often sets goals and puts pressure on herself. Many days, she stays up very late to study. With Lan Nhi, I never have to remind her to study but have to remind her to go to bed early to stay healthy.”

With tireless efforts, during all 4 years of middle school, Lan Nhi won the district-level excellent student award in Math.

In grade 9 alone, I won second prize at the district level, then third prize at the city level in Math; third prize at the district level English Olympic; and a gold medal at the national ITMC Math Talent Search Competition.

Talking about her daughter, Ms. Hoa said that Lan Nhi is an introvert and quiet. Besides studying, in her free time, Lan Nhi likes to play chess.

In grade 9, the excellent female student won first prize in the Chess Standard Chess category for women aged 14-15 at the Phu Dong Sports Festival at the district level and was able to participate in the city level competition.

In the general entrance exam for grade 10 in Hanoi, Lan Nhi registered her first choice at Kim Lien High School and the specialized Math block of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. Up to this point, Lan Nhi is still waiting for more good results although she is not too worried or pressured about the opportunities for specialized schools.

However, Lan Nhi said that with her parents' future career orientation, she will most likely choose to study the IT major at the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences.
