Martyr's child determined to go to specialized school
Quynh's father, Lieutenant Colonel Cao Dang Cuong - who was a political commissar of Yen Khuong Border Post, under the Thanh Hoa Border Guard Command - died while helping people prevent floods and storms on October 10, 2017 in Yen Khuong commune, Lang Chanh mountainous district (Thanh Hoa).
The day her father died, Quynh was in 4th grade. Quynh's memories of her soldier father are the trips he made to visit his family and encourage his daughter to study.
The pain of losing her father gradually subsided. Quynh threw herself into studying hard to be a source of encouragement for her mother. Quynh's academic results made her mother happy when her father was no longer around, helping her shed less tears in life.
In grade 9 at Nguyen Hong Le Secondary School, Sam Son City, Quynh won third prize in geography at the provincial excellent student contest. In grade 11 at Lam Son High School for the Gifted, Quynh won first prize in geography at the provincial excellent student contest.

Sharing her study secrets, Quynh smiled: "My father is a soldier, often away from home, my mother sells goods at the market, so from a young age I had to study independently.
In addition to learning knowledge in class from teachers' lectures, I study by myself and ask for more documents to review at home.
The year I took the entrance exam for grade 10, specializing in geography, Lam Son High School for the Gifted, I mainly studied at home, and rarely took extra classes outside.
Dream of following father's military career
Returning from the national excellent student exam, Quynh is focusing on reviewing knowledge of combined subjects to enter the second semester of grade 11 and prepare for grade 12 with many exams ahead.
According to Quynh, since the day her father died, her dream of following in his footsteps in the military has motivated her to study even better. Quynh has an older brother who is also serving in the Thanh Hoa Border Guard.
"I dedicate the second prize of the national excellent student contest to my father, because I know he is still following my studies. Although the path to the military school gate is difficult and full of challenges ahead, I will try to study well to fulfill my father's dream of entering the military. I would like to thank the teachers who taught and trained me to achieve the results I have today" - Quynh confided.
