Sharing with Tien Phong , the representative of People's Artist Kim Cuong's family said that she was taken to the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute for emergency treatment on the afternoon of October 29. The family took the female artist to the hospital after she had difficulty breathing and almost fainted.
People's Artist Kim Cuong was discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of October 30. The doctor ordered the artist to return to the hospital for a check-up on the morning of October 31. Her health is stable but she still has symptoms of difficulty breathing and cannot talk much. Her family said that People's Artist Kim Cuong had heart disease and had been in poor health for many years.
The artist first went to the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute for emergency treatment in 2019. Doctors diagnosed her with a heart attack after she was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of angina. The artist said she often felt tired when the weather changed.

People's Artist Kim Cuong plans to collaborate with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association to perform the play "Durian Leaves" in Hanoi, aiming to raise funds to help artists in need in the Northern region. The 87-year-old artist cannot participate in the program due to a relapse of her heart disease.
The author of La Durian regularly organizes and participates in charity programs despite her old age and poor health. People's Artist Kim Cuong often visits artists at the Ho Chi Minh City Nursing Home. She also gives gifts when artists move to live at the Thi Nghe Nursing Center.
People's Artist Kim Cuong was born in 1937 into a family with an artistic tradition. Her mother is veteran artist Bay Nam. The female artist used to follow a reformed opera troupe, then developed her talent in spoken drama. Her connoisseurs call her the legendary Kim Cuong. She composed many classic plays such as La Sau Rieng, Quan Am Thi Kinh, Tra Hoa Nu... The Vietnam Book of Records honors People's Artist Kim Cuong as the artist who wrote the most spoken drama scripts in Vietnam.
The play " The Durian Leaf" (co-starring with People's Artist Bay Nam) is considered a classic of Southern drama, most notably the scene where the mother visits her daughter-in-law who has married into a rich family. Canh Dieu (People's Artist Kim Cuong) chases his mother away because "people suspect her of stealing rice" which brings tears to the audience.
People's Artist Vien Chau wrote the song Giac mong la du rieng for People's Artist Kim Cuong and People's Artist Bay Nam. The song was successfully performed by singer Cam Ly in her own live show.
