The family took the female artist to the hospital after she had difficulty breathing and almost fainted.
People's Artist Kim Cuong was discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of October 30. The doctor ordered the artist to return to the hospital for a check-up on the morning of October 31. Her health is stable but she still has symptoms of difficulty breathing and cannot talk much. Her family said that People's Artist Kim Cuong had heart disease and had been in poor health for many years.
The artist first went to the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute for emergency treatment in 2019. Doctors diagnosed her with a heart attack after she was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of angina. The artist said she often felt tired when the weather changed.

The play " The Durian Leaf" (co-starring with People's Artist Bay Nam) is considered a classic of Southern drama, most notably the scene where the mother visits her daughter-in-law who has married into a rich family. Canh Dieu (People's Artist Kim Cuong) chases his mother away because "people suspect her of stealing rice" which brings tears to the audience.
People's Artist Vien Chau wrote the song Giac mong la du rieng for People's Artist Kim Cuong and People's Artist Bay Nam. The song was successfully performed by singer Cam Ly in her own live show.
