Farmers in Cuong Gian commune (Nghi Xuan) are rushing to complete 45 hectares of spring peanuts in the next few days.

This spring crop, Nghi Xuan is the locality with the largest peanut acreage in the province. According to the plan, the whole district will cultivate 1,270 hectares, of which the key peanut granaries are Xuan My (170 hectares), Dan Truong (160 hectares), Xuan Vien and Xuan Thanh (140 hectares), Xuan My (130 hectares)... Currently, this locality is also leading the whole province in terms of production progress.

Mr. Le Anh Duc - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghi Xuan district informed: "To aim for the goal of covering the entire area and striving to achieve a yield of 28.5 quintals/ha, in recent days, farmers in the whole district have taken advantage of the warm and sunny weather and guaranteed soil moisture to sow spring peanuts. Up to this point, localities have completed planting 1,130/1,270 hectares, the remaining 140 hectares (mainly in wet areas) are urgently preparing for planting, striving to basically complete it in about 1 week".

After the Tet holidays, the fields in Loc Ha town are bustling with production.

Taking advantage of the locality's tradition of peanut production, farmers in Loc Ha district are rushing to the fields to compete with the crop calendar. People are determined to cover 926 hectares of peanuts, with an average yield of 26.6 quintals/hectare and an output of nearly 2,468 tons; the focus is on Loc Ha town (195 hectares), Thach Chau (186 hectares), Thinh Loc (180 hectares), Binh An (109 hectares), Thach My (100 hectares)...

With the goal of completing sowing in February to avoid the cold of Nang Ban (in March of the lunar calendar) as well as ensuring the growth, development and productivity of crops, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities in Loc Ha are focusing on directing, urging and encouraging people to sow according to plan.

Up to this point, about 65% of the area has been planted (mainly in sandy areas) and every day an additional 50 - 100 hectares are sown, so ensuring the crop schedule is completely feasible.

Farmers in all districts, cities and towns are focusing on peanut production. Mr. Phan Cong Toan - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ky Anh district said: "This spring crop, the district plans to grow 730 hectares of peanuts, striving to achieve a yield of 28 quintals/ha, an output of 2,044 tons.
