Using clean water according to standards from centralized water supply works both meets the requirements of building new rural areas and ensures people's health.
As the standing agency performing the task of providing clean water to rural areas according to the National Target Program on New Rural Development, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has implemented many solutions. Comrade Do Ngoc Doan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: The Department has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Plan No. 835/KH-UBND dated March 15, 2023 on implementing the Program on strengthening environmental protection, food safety and providing clean water to rural areas in the construction of New Rural Development by 2025 in the province; coordinate with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, relevant units to organize propaganda, guide districts, cities and towns to implement the contents of the program, clean water indicators in the construction of New Rural Development according to instructions and regulations. Along with that, the Department proactively coordinates to promote the dissemination of clean water and environmental sanitation, especially on the following days: World Water Day, National Week of Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation, World Environment Day... With the efforts of the province, specialized sectors, and localities, currently, the rate of households using clean water has reached 98.71%, of which nearly 40% of households use clean water from centralized water supply works. The whole province has nearly 150 communes meeting environmental and food safety criteria, reaching 74.5%.
In Thanh Ba district, environmental sanitation and clean water supply have been paid attention to, creating conditions for the locality to complete and be recognized as a new rural district. Comrade Ha Anh Tuan - Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shared: "In order to effectively implement the target of the rate of households using clean water according to standards in building new rural areas, the Department has requested local authorities to strengthen management and effectively use centralized water supply works, gradually increasing the rate of people using water from these works. This is both a condition to protect people's health and a basis for localities to continue implementing the goal of building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. Thanks to that, the rate of rural residents in the district using clean water and hygienic water reached 99.9%; 100% of urban residents using clean water and hygienic water, of which over 72% use clean water".
In the coming time, along with improving the quality of management and operation of centralized water supply works, localities need to proactively arrange funding sources to upgrade and renovate centralized water supply systems in the area; encourage and mobilize people to use clean water, actively participate in purchasing materials and connecting pipes to bring clean water from the supply source to their homes. The province continues to pay attention to directing functional sectors to mobilize and effectively use capital sources to invest in building new water supply works; encourage organizations and individuals to participate in building water supply works... to ensure the goal of building new rural areas according to regulations, protecting health, and improving the quality of life of people.
