On the evening of December 3, the leader of the People's Committee of Khanh Binh Tay Bac Commune (Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau Province) said that 3 victims who suffered burns in the crab fishing boat explosion that occurred in the area that morning are still receiving intensive treatment at Ca Mau Provincial General Hospital.
According to the People's Committee of Khanh Binh Tay Bac commune, the incident occurred at 9:25 a.m. At that time, Mr. Bui Minh Canh (born in 1989, residing in Khanh Binh Tay Bac commune) was driving a boat to refuel to go fishing at sea, with 4 crew members on board.
While moving, the main engine system in the boat's hold exploded abnormally, and the throttle could not be adjusted down. A minute later, the boat's engine exploded, burning Mr. Canh and two other crew members. The burned people were quickly taken to Ca Mau General Hospital by the remaining crew members for emergency treatment.
The explosion also blew the hatch cover off the boat, shattered the cabin windows into pieces, and cracked the boat's side...
According to doctors treating the three victims, Mr. Canh and the two fishermen were hospitalized with severe burns to more than 50% of their bodies. One of them suffered multiple injuries, is in a coma, and needs a ventilator.
The cause of the explosion is currently being investigated by the police.
