Playing the role of connecting and mobilizing the community to preserve the national cultural identity, ethnic minority artisans in villages and hamlets are both dedicated and enthusiastic in leading and teaching traditional performing arts values to young people through classes and mass art movements, thereby contributing to improving the spiritual life of the community.

Born and raised in Lai Chau, Meritorious Artist Sin Van Doi is an energetic and active person, devoting a lot of time and effort to the work of preserving the identity and traditional beauty of the Mang ethnic group. In addition to teaching knowledge about traditional folk performing arts to 30 students, villagers, etc., Meritorious Artist Sin Van Doi also coordinated with the Department of Culture and Information of Nam Nhun district to compile a document guiding the class on traditional folk performing arts of the Mang ethnic group. This document is extremely valuable, not only guiding students to learn basic songs, understand the meaning of each song and dance, but also equipping them with basic knowledge and techniques for breathing, walking, and moving their hands and feet... while singing, dancing, and playing the flute.

Những người

In addition, Meritorious Artist Sin Van Doi also collaborated with other artisans to translate Mang language song lyrics into Mandarin, creating conditions for young people to quickly and easily access traditional culture, gradually raising awareness of preserving their cultural identity and beauty.

Similar to Meritorious Artist Sin Van Doi, with the desire to preserve the indigenous cultural value of Soong Co singing which is at risk of fading in modern life, Meritorious Artist Tran Thi Nam (San Diu ethnic group, Vinh Phuc province) said: "Soong Co singing is a unique and characteristic cultural feature of the San Diu ethnic group, bringing joy and enthusiasm in production and labor, creating a close relationship with the homeland, village and San Diu people. In 2018, the Soong Co folk culture of the San Diu ethnic group was recognized by the State as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Therefore, to respect and be proud of the value and identity of our ethnic culture, to preserve and maintain the unique values, I established the Trung Mau Village Soong Co Singing Club. With 60 members, the club organizes regular activities. The members actively practice, regularly participate in performances, cultural and artistic exchanges with other localities, creating a vibrant and widespread Soong Co singing movement, while preserving the unique features of the indigenous culture of the San Diu people, from traditional costumes, lullabies, storytelling, love songs to dances."

Những người

In addition to teaching, in 2014, Meritorious Artist Tran Thi Nam and the Soong Co folk song club of Trung Mau village compiled and published 200 books teaching about San Diu ethnic culture; in 2019, 120 books teaching about Soong Co culture, language and folk songs were published. From 2023 to present, the club has expanded to organize classes teaching language and folk songs for San Diu ethnic children.

Considering the preservation and promotion of national cultural values as an important task contributing to the construction and development of an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national cultural identity, in recent years, Meritorious Artist Y Sim E Ban (Ede ethnic group, Dak Nong province) has directly composed many gong pieces, manufactured traditional national musical instruments; participated in teaching 4 gong classes to the young generation with 220 students. Thereby, he has contributed to the preservation and promotion of the national cultural values of the Ede people.

Những người

However, despite the active efforts of artisans in preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic minorities, in the current trend of integration and development, the good traditional cultural values of ethnic groups are still at risk of being lost.

Những người

Meritorious Artist Y Sim E Ban (Ede ethnic group, Dak Nong province) said that due to the ethnic minority area, the low and backward level of education and economy has caused great obstacles in preserving and developing the traditional culture of the nation. In addition, besides the lack of financial support policies, the collection, staging, exploitation, preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural capital have not really received proper attention and investment. The organization of traditional festivals has not yet met the current needs of the people.

Thereby, Meritorious Artist Y Sim E Ban recommends that there should be specific guidance soon on measures to manage, preserve and promote cultural values in traditional festivals, customs, practices and cuisine of the Ede people in particular and Vietnamese ethnic groups in general. Furthermore, it is necessary to strengthen the investigation, survey and classification of traditional folk art forms to implement solutions to preserve, restore and promote specific values.

Sharing the same viewpoint, Meritorious Artist Sin Van Doi hopes that the Party and the State will have more support policies to restore and reconstruct traditional cultural features of the nation. Synchronously invest in grassroots cultural institutions. In particular, there should be more policies to treat and encourage spiritually and materially village elders, village chiefs, artisans, prestigious people, and cultural officials in extremely difficult areas and ethnic minority areas. From there, it will contribute to stimulating the creativity of each individual.

Những người

According to Meritorious Artist Tran Thi Nam, in the coming time, to preserve the beauty in the cultural life of the San Diu people, the State needs to pay more attention so that the San Diu people, Vinh Phuc province in particular and the whole country in general, continue to maintain and develop their cultural identity. Issue policies and have mechanisms and policies to support funding for communes in ethnic minority areas to build centers to preserve and develop San Diu ethnic culture. In particular, there needs to be funding to support clubs and artisans teaching Soong Co singing. In addition, it is necessary to focus on developing community tourism in combination with developing spiritual and ecological cultural tourism./.
