Effective models in new-style cooperatives

To improve production and business efficiency, cooperatives in the province have proactively transformed their organizational structure and operations according to the 2012 Law on Cooperatives. The most obvious change in agricultural cooperatives is the formation of production and business models associated with value chains. From this practical and appropriate direction, many cooperatives have become "bright spots" in the collective economic and cooperative movement of the province, bringing high revenue and profits to member households.

The production model of Ca To Agricultural Service Cooperative (Thanh Hoa City) attracts many students to visit and experience.

Ca To Agricultural Service Cooperative (Thanh Hoa City) was established in 2016 and is known as a successful unit in the high-tech agricultural production model combined with experiential tourism. Accordingly, the Cooperative has proactively accumulated and concentrated land to serve as a basis for investment in production development. With more than 2 hectares of existing land, the Cooperative has invested more than 6 billion VND to build a closed high-tech agricultural model, build a river-in-pond model for high-yield fish farming, build 10,000m2 of greenhouses and net houses to grow safe vegetables, fruits, etc.

Director of the Cooperative Le Thi Hong Duyen said: "In addition to organizing production, the Cooperative also proactively researches and consults effective production models for testing and application in practice. We realize that developing organic production combined with experiential agricultural tourism is popular in the market, so since 2022 the Cooperative has imported Korean grape varieties and strawberries for planting, both improving production efficiency and gradually building an experiential agricultural tourism model. Up to now, the Cooperative has built a brand in the field of agricultural tourism, becoming a destination for sightseeing and learning for people and many schools. With the appropriate direction of production development, the Cooperative's annual revenue reaches more than 3 billion VND, creating stable jobs for members and 7 workers."

Quang Chinh Agricultural and Aquatic Product Production, Farming and Processing Cooperative (Quang Xuong) was established in 2017, taking the lead in consuming aquaculture products for its members and local people, so their income has improved a lot compared to before. The cooperative boldly promoted the consumption of aquatic products by investing in building a center for raising aquatic breeds such as shrimp, crab, fish... to supply households and farming units and a cold storage system to purchase products for local farmers.

Director of the Cooperative Pham Ba Thao said: The Cooperative was established on the basis of linking, developing aquaculture areas and supporting processing and consuming aquatic products for aquaculture households in the commune. Therefore, in addition to purchasing products, the Cooperative also invests in developing production centers, supplying aquatic breeds to farmers and linking with many units to develop processed aquatic products. Up to now, the Cooperative has not only supplied dozens of tons of aquatic breeds/year, linked to purchase products for more than 200 hectares of local aquaculture, but also built brands for a number of aquatic products such as Hieu Thao fresh shrimp with 3-star OCOP; Quang Chinh tiger prawns, crabs... bringing the Quang Chinh aquatic product brand closer to the market, gaining the trust of consumers.

In the province, there are currently 1,391 cooperatives with more than 90% of cooperatives proactively converting their management and operation models according to the 2012 Law on Cooperatives. Among them, there are many new cooperative models that bring high economic efficiency such as: Tan Son Environmental Sanitation Cooperative (Thanh Hoa City) with a model of collecting waste, manufacturing vehicles and waste transportation tools, creating jobs for more than 220 workers; Trung Kien Small Industry Cooperative (Hoang Hoa) processes bags and handicrafts for export, creating jobs and income for about 150 workers; Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative (Trieu Son) creates jobs for hundreds of workers with an average income of 5 million VND/person/month, developing 4 3-star OCOP products at the provincial level, contributing to increasing people's income and accelerating the process of building new rural areas in the locality...

The construction of a new cooperative model associated with the value chain of key products in the province has been formed and brought about positive results. In particular, most cooperatives have proactively invested in equipment and infrastructure to develop production and gradually linked up to solve product output for people. With the effective innovation of operations, up to now, the whole province has 48% of cooperatives operating well, reducing the rate of weak cooperatives to less than 12%. The average profit of cooperatives reached 276 million VND/cooperative/year, of which agricultural cooperatives are about 197 million VND/cooperative/year.

Vice President of the Cooperative Union Le Hong Hai said: In the coming time, the Provincial Cooperative Union will continue to create conditions for cooperatives to access capital, science and technology, trade promotion programs and opportunities to link and cooperate with reputable businesses and units... contributing to improving the efficiency of product consumption chains and increasing income for members. Thereby, promoting the effectiveness and superiority of the new cooperative model, enhancing the strength of the collective economic sector and cooperatives of the province.
