Students about to take 10th grade exams 'fear tomorrow's dawn'

Every year, when the 10th grade exam comes around, the situation is "hot" from the exam sites to the school gates - where hundreds, thousands of parents are willing to put aside all work to wait for their children.

According to regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the rate of students streaming after junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2023-2024 school year is 70% of junior high school graduates entering public grade 10. This year, 108,000 students graduated from junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City, but about 96,000 students registered for the public grade 10 entrance exam. With a target of about 77,000 students, there will be about 20,000 students who will not attend public schools after this year's grade 10 entrance exam.

The entrance exam for grade 10 at public schools in Ho Chi Minh City is an important milestone in a student’s life. The exam also brings great anxiety and pressure to tens of thousands of students and tens of thousands of families.
