On May 14, young writer Huynh Trong Khang had a meeting and chat with readers on the occasion of the release of his novel Lonely Moon Pool (published by Tre Publishing House). Many literary friends came to congratulate the author.
After The Grave of Youth , The Sleeping Echoes , Buddha in the Small Alley , 2023 marks the return of young writer Huynh Trong Khang with the work The Lonely Moon Pool . The work was inspired by the recent peaks of the pandemic, written with a beautiful and serene voice, imbued with Zen and Buddhist philosophy, evoking many thoughts about life.
As a continuation of the short story collection Buddha in the alley , the novel The Orphaned Moon Pool also carries a strong Buddhist spirit. Not telling the story in the usual way, Huynh Trong Khang tells two stories at the same time: the journey of a young monk leaving his hermitage to go to Sa Mao mountain and the journey of Huyen Trang to Tay Truc to obtain Buddhist scriptures.

In the work, the character of the monk is portrayed in modern times, facing the pandemic, the character's life is increasingly narrowed: from a vast mountainous area, the living space only takes place in a small house in the heart of the city. That is a static life. On the contrary, from the Great Tang, the character Huyen Trang reaches out to the world, along with that journey, his world becomes more and more open.

The two characters and two storylines seem to be parallel but are actually metaphors for a common message about rebirth. According to the author, after disasters and epidemics, life still goes on, and we will feel that it is a very long history of this life.
The program took place in a friendly and intimate atmosphere. |

Writer Bui Tieu Quyen said that she had read many works, essays, and memoirs about Covid-19 and felt very heartbroken when she had to re-experience the most terrible thing that her life, her community, and her country had experienced. However, for Huynh Trong Khang, it was not the same.
She explained: “Because of the Buddhist support, when reading The Lonely Moon Pool , readers feel soothed and saved. Borrowing the image of the monk, that support is like a great strength in this work. I am very happy that Khang has done that for himself and for everyone."
