“Smart factory” is a stepping stone to digital transformation of enterprises

After 3 months of implementation, the enterprise has been supported with consulting solutions, proposed improvement plans in the direction of building a smart factory; supported with training and consulting for employees so that the enterprise can proactively continue to implement after the project ends.

On December 10, the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang City held a Summary of the Program to support the Smart Factory Development Consulting Project in Da Nang City in 2024.

Upgrade factory score

As soon as receiving the Project, Minh Thinh Loi Production and Trading Company Limited immediately implemented it at the factory (located in An Luu Industrial Park, Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province).

Through initial assessment, the company only achieved an intelligence index of 1.0/5.0. Experts have trained and supported tasks such as: Training in writing descriptions; analyzing processes, developing improvement plans, training management teams, improving the site, pasting QR codes in areas, installing IoT devices, etc.

For information management software, the factory sets up an environment to collect and share information data through IoT for processing procedures; sets up factory operating procedures on the system. Regarding improvement activities, they are carried out in 4 areas: production, quality, equipment, and logistics.

In addition, businesses can also manage factory operating capacity index in real time; increase factory efficiency by eliminating field waste. As a result, after 3 months of project implementation, the factory achieved a score of 2.7/5.0.

From the initial score of 1.1/5.0, after being consulted and implementing smart factory construction solutions, the index at Trung Khoa Printing factory increased to 3.0/5.0.

Mr. Ngo Tien Thanh, Head of Smart Factory Development Board (Trung Khoa Printing Company Limited) shared more: After implementing the project, we have achieved some results such as: collecting real data through using software, improving the field with the model using Qr code, using layout for equipment management. The project has helped increase productivity by 20% and achieve efficiency in management.

Core to promote digital transformation of enterprises

The Smart Factory Development Consulting Support Program is implemented by the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang City in coordination with Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. To date, the Program has been deployed to 5 enterprises in Da Nang City and the Central Highlands in 2023 and 2024.

Mr. Jang Yoon Ho, Director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Partner Support Center, informed that the smart factory model is a must for businesses to further improve their manufacturing competitiveness.

Completing the project is the first step for digital transformation activities of businesses and I hope that the units will continue to implement it more extensively,” said Mr. Jang Yoon Ho.

The smart factory development project is implemented to help businesses reach level 3 on the smart factory scale. During the implementation period, businesses are improved in software and production content.
