(Dan Tri) - In the women's 158km road cycling event of the 2024 Paris Olympics on the evening of August 4, Nguyen Thi That ranked 73rd out of 93 athletes with a time of 4 hours 10 minutes 47 seconds.
In the women's road race at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Vietnam's number one racer, Nguyen Thi That, faced 92 athletes. The 158km race required the racers to have a reasonable distribution of strength and Nguyen Thi That had an impressive start. After the first 23km, Nguyen Thi That gradually improved her position and was often in the top 3. Slovakian racer, Nora Jencusova, had an impressive start when she continuously led.

After about 50km, Nguyen Thi That caught up with Nora Jencusova (Slovakia) and was always in the leading group of the race. The Vietnamese racer started well and was determined in 2/3 of the road race. After nearly 80km, Nguyen Thi That was still in the group of 6 racers in the leading group. Nora Jencusova had an accident when her chain slipped and the time it took to fix the problem caused the Slovakian racer to fall behind. The highlight of the race was in the last 50km, Nguyen Thi That was somewhat exhausted. The championship group included Marianne (Netherlands) and Blanca (Hungary). The Vietnamese female racer tried to keep her position in the top 20, but she was closely followed by her opponents and could not accelerate. In the last 30km, 12 racers led with 45 seconds more than the group behind, Nguyen Thi That was not in this group. The tension came in the final 5km, when Kopecky (Belgium) took the lead while Marianne (Netherlands), Kristen (USA) and Blanca (Hungary) were chasing fiercely behind. At the end of the 158km road cycling race, Faulkner Kristen (USA) won the gold medal with a time of 3 hours 59 minutes 23 seconds. Vos Marianne (Netherlands) won the silver medal with a time of 4 hours 21 seconds and Kopecky Lotte (Belgium) won the bronze medal with a time of 4 hours 21 seconds. Vas Blanca (Hungary) did not win a medal, despite having the same time of 4 hours 21 seconds as the two competitors above. Nguyen Thi That ranked 73rd overall with a time of 4 hours 10 minutes 47 seconds.
