Mr. Tien Anh said that on the afternoon of December 9, after picking up his child, he drove back to work. He was planning to turn to get gas when he saw a boy riding a bicycle in the opposite lane. Without thinking much, he changed direction and followed, “just in case something bad happens.”
At this time, the 8-year-old boy was cycling unsteadily, confusedly turning left following the traffic that was changing direction. Realizing that an accident could happen, Mr. Tien Anh sped up, firmly grabbed the boy's shirt, and pulled him away from the dozens-ton truck that was turning the corner.
The man's action surprised the child, who quickly turned his head to look back.
“I was so worried, I didn't have time to think much, I just reached out to hold the baby,” Mr. Tien Anh recalled the moment of survival.
The 8-year-old boy later told him that the bike's brakes had failed. After watching the boy cross the road safely, he continued on his previously planned journey.

After the incident, Mr. Tien Anh said he was surprised when the video recording the scene of him saving the child went viral on social media. Although many people called him a “hero”, he humbly said that anyone in that situation would have acted the same way, “simply paying special attention to children when participating in traffic”.
According to Hoa Binh City Police, up to now, Mr. Tien Anh has many times saved many people from dangerous situations as mentioned above.
On the afternoon of December 11, the Traffic Police Team of Hoa Binh City Police and the truck driver visited and gave gifts to Mr. Vu Tien Anh.
Hoa Binh Police hope that these good deeds will spread throughout the community to contribute to building a safe, humane and compassionate society.
Previously, the clip recorded the incident that took place on the afternoon of December 9 at the Thinh Lang - Truong Han Sieu intersection, Hoa Binh city. According to the video recorded by a car's dash cam, a truck carrying dirt and rocks moved from Thinh Lang street and turned left onto Truong Han Sieu street, Hoa Binh city, Hoa Binh province on December 9. Due to the large size of the vehicle, when turning, the rear wheel of the truck "cut" quite a bit towards the hard median strip.
At that moment, a child was cycling close to this location. When he discovered that the child was gradually entering the truck’s blind spot at a bend, the man accelerated closer and quickly pulled the child back.
Thanks to that, a serious traffic accident that could have happened had the child continued to move was prevented.
The video shared on social media received thousands of comments praising the determination of the man on the motorbike.
According to the Traffic Police Department, the “blind spot” of a car is one of the factors that cause unsafety, potentially leading to many risks that can lead to traffic accidents. This is most dangerous for motorcyclists, motorbike riders, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.
In many cases, motorcyclists, motorbike drivers, and bicycle drivers speed, overtake recklessly, do not pay attention when changing direction; pedestrians do not pay attention when crossing the street... so they fall into the "blind spot" of cars.
“In most of these cases, motorbikes, motorbikes, drivers, and pedestrians will be caught under the chassis and wheels of trucks, passenger buses, container trucks, etc., leading to extremely tragic consequences,” according to the Traffic Police Department.
