When mentioning Da Nang, many people immediately think of famous tourist destinations such as Ba Na, Ngu Hanh Son Mountain or My Khe Beach - tourist paradises known worldwide. However, few people know that Da Nang also owns a large rural area, where diverse production activities take place and contribute significantly to the city's socio-economic development.

In the past, many people here still struggled with poverty, working hard to make ends meet. However, thanks to strong investment from the government and national programs such as new rural development and sustainable poverty reduction, these lands have been and are being revived day by day.

And the Social Policy Bank (SPB) of Da Nang has played an important role in supporting people to develop production and business, while helping poor households build houses, create jobs and have stable incomes. These programs have given many families the opportunity to change their fate.

Typically, in Hoa Son stone craft village, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan (owner of a stone production facility) shared that thanks to preferential loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, his facility has invested in purchasing new equipment, creating more jobs for many local people.

Not only in Hoa Vang, the programs "5 no", "3 yes" and "4 safe" widely deployed by the city have brought profound human values, helping Da Nang build the brand "Worth living city" throughout the development process.

To achieve these remarkable results, Da Nang clearly identified that one of the important solutions is to effectively use credit resources from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. Thanks to that, tens of thousands of households have been able to borrow capital to overcome difficulties and escape poverty.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chuc, Veterans Association of Xuan Ha ward, said that the loan capital from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has a profound humanitarian character, improving the lives of many borrowers.

A typical example is the borrower Nguyen Ngoc Thong, one of the extremely poor households. His family works in the aluminum and glass industry, with 4 members. Previously, due to lack of capital, they only took on small jobs and used public space in residential areas for production, causing environmental pollution and noise. People in the residential area complained many times, but for the sake of making a living, Thong still did it.

However, since 2020, when accessing capital to create jobs from the VBSP, Mr. Thong's family borrowed 100 million VND to invest in purchasing machinery and equipment and expanding the production facility. With capital, Mr. Thong boldly rented 100m2 of premises and received larger projects. Currently, Mr. Thong's family has truly escaped poverty sustainably.

Many households in the city have escaped poverty by accessing job creation capital from the Da Nang Social Policy Bank.

Another story is that of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lai’s family in Thanh Khe Tay Ward, with 5 children of school age and a sick elderly mother. Before accessing the loan, her family could only make ends meet. But since receiving a loan of 128.7 million VND, her family has had enough conditions to send their children to university and escape poverty.

Ms. Ly Thi Thanh Cuong, in Xuan Ha ward, also shared that her family used to live in a 31m2 level 4 house, and had to worry every time the rainy season came. However, since receiving a loan of 200 million VND from the VBSP, her family has been able to build a spacious 2-storey house, stabilize their lives and focus on economic development.

Timely implementation of major policies

Da Nang's "5 no, 3 yes, 4 safe" programs have left a deep impression on tourists and helped many people have a better life.

The city has reduced its poverty rate to 0% since 2005, becoming one of the first localities in the country to achieve this.

According to many households, the loan capital from the Da Nang Social Policy Bank is deeply humane, improving the lives of many borrowers.

Illiteracy has been almost completely “erased”, with a literacy rate of over 99%. Street children are no longer seen, and they are brought back to their families and schools.

Drug control in the community has achieved many positive results, sharply reducing the number of addicts, cleaning up the dark corners of the city. In addition, crimes of murder and robbery have almost "retreated into the shadows".

With the “3 Yes” program, more than 40,000 houses have been built or supported, providing homes for tens of thousands of families. The unemployment rate has dropped sharply to below 2%, helping Da Nang become one of the cities with the most stable labor markets in the country.

The effectiveness of the "5 no, 3 yes, 4 safe" programs that the city has implemented is not only measured by numbers, but also felt through each bright face, each clean street, and each house filled with laughter.

Along with that, the system of parks, cultural houses and community education programs have contributed to building a harmonious, modern community of residents, but still preserving traditional beauty.

It can be affirmed that the effectiveness of the “5 no, 3 yes, 4 safe” programs that the city has implemented is not only measured by numbers, but also felt through each radiant face, each clean street, and each house filled with laughter. Da Nang is now not only a city, but a symbol of the aspiration to rise high, turning the peaceful dream of the people into reality.
