Adjusting her lipstick color, Trang Lin (real name Dao Thu Trang, born in 2001) took the opportunity to finish the photo shoot. She is currently a famous micro model in Hanoi, specializing in testing hundreds of lipsticks and thousands of pairs of contact lenses. Thanks to this special job, she has a small extra income every month.

Trang Lin got into this job by chance. At first, she liked taking photos after completing makeup designs and sharing her beauty experiences and knowledge in groups. Then she received invitations to model for some cosmetic and contact lens brands. Thanks to that, she often had the opportunity to take photos while swatching lipstick colors and eye lenses.

Gradually finding herself passionate about this job, Trang decided to pursue a career as a micro model through a freelance job. During the day, she worked at a technology company. After work, she worked on her own face.

Trang Lin defines her own profession: These are models who specialize in close-up photography, focusing on small details such as eyes, lips, hands, ears, etc. to promote products such as cosmetics, jewelry, and accessories.

Their role is considered important in conveying product information to customers in a visual, vivid and close way. Thanks to sharp, attractive images from micro models, products will be better approached and remembered by consumers.

"It sounds like a new profession, but actually micro modeling has been around for a long time. In Korea, models even have a room set up at home, with professional lights and cameras worth hundreds of millions of dong.

In Vietnam, a micro model's income depends on many factors such as experience, product brand, difficulty of the photo shoot concept... On average, income for a photo shoot can range from 500,000 to 2 million VND," she revealed.

The young woman added that this profession attracts young people because of its creativity and diversity. Thanks to being a micro model, she has the opportunity to try out new photography ideas, explore new products and introduce beautiful pictures.

Nowadays, the micro model profession is becoming more and more popular and attracting many young people to participate in diverse roles. In addition to modeling for eyes and lips like Trang Lin, there are many people modeling for hands, necks, and ears for jewelry brands.

Micro models often search for job information through social networking sites, recruitment websites or through referrals from brands.

Compared to catwalk models or fashion photographers, micro models often have to move less, are not under time pressure and do not have to follow strict diet and exercise regimens. However, this profession requires models to have attractive looks such as beautiful eyes, pretty lips and even teeth, as well as good photography skills, the ability to pose in a variety of ways, creativity and in-depth knowledge of the product.

"I want my photos to be more unique, so I often use natural light as the main light. On unfavorable weather days like rainy or cloudy days, taking photos becomes more difficult," Trang said.

Making money is easy but…

Trang Lin said she could earn income from this job quickly and easily. However, wearing and changing lenses too much during the photoshoot made her eyes dry, red, teary and more sensitive. Previously, Trang limited herself to only changing 3-4 pairs in a photoshoot, while many other models with healthy eyes could wear up to 20 pairs of contact lenses in a livestream.

There were many times when she tried lipstick that was too matte or too dry, leaving stains that were difficult to remove. Her lips became so swollen that they bled.

"Many times I thought about stopping this job, but brands texted me begging me because it was so hard to find models, so I continued doing it. I hope this job will be known by more people and the market will no longer be short of models," she said.

According to her, the most useful advice for those who want to pursue this industry is to build a standard personal image. In addition, young people need to create their own style, share beautiful images, interact regularly on social networks and provide attractive content to attract followers.
