Government requests to promote summer tourism in 2025, needs suitable airfare for April 30 holiday

Recently, in a meeting to discuss the implementation of tasks and solutions for economic development and growth targets for 2025, the Government requested ministries, branches and localities to focus on effectively implementing 9 main contents, including promoting tourism development.

Specifically, the Government requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and localities to promote tourism, stimulate demand, and attract tourists in the summer of 2025.

At the same time, it is necessary to coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to have a suitable plan to manage airfares, promote domestic tourism, especially during the April 30 and May 1 holidays.

The April 30 and May 1 holidays this year are an opportunity for Vietnamese tourists to plan their desired trips. This is one of the longest holidays of the year with a total break of up to 5 days. Therefore, the demand for domestic and international travel has increased sharply.

This year's holiday is also the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, Ho Chi Minh City is the "center" of tourism. Many tourists want to visit Ho Chi Minh City on April 30 this year, but in reality, airfares to and from Ho Chi Minh City have increased.

Talking about the growth of the tourism industry in 2025, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, shared: the growth of the tourism industry in 2024 was achieved thanks to the Government's orientations and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles for tourism. Especially policies on visas and immigration.

Mr. Khanh said that with the recent tourism growth rate and international recognition, we can believe in the resilience of Vietnam's tourism in 2025, which will be a key economic sector for socio-economic development.

In 2025, Vietnam tourism sets an "ambitious" goal of welcoming 22 - 23 million international visitors; serving 120 - 130 million domestic visitors, aiming for revenue of millions of billions of VND.

Previously, in 2024, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 17.6 million, an increase of 40% compared to 2023 and equal to 98% compared to 2019 - the golden year of tourism.

Tourists spend more because of increased airfare during the April 30 holiday

Previously, on April 13, Tuoi Tre Online recorded an increase in airfares during the April 30 holiday, especially flights to Ho Chi Minh City. During the holidays in previous years, the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route had much higher prices, this year the opposite direction has... not been smooth. However, tourists are willing to pay a high price to buy tickets, expecting to have an interesting experience on April 30 this year.

For example, according to Vietnam Airlines, a flexible economy seat costs nearly 3.8 million VND/way on April 29. In contrast, the same seat class and time but the flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City costs nearly 4 million VND/way.

Meanwhile, flights from Nha Trang, Da Lat, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Con Dao to Ho Chi Minh City on the same day, April 29, cost nearly 1.5 million VND/one-way ticket depending on the route.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, domestic airlines are expected to operate more than 7,500 flights, providing about 1.5 million seats, an average of 685 flights per day, an increase of more than 20% compared to normal days and the same period last year.
