On the morning of April 14, at Tien Sa Port (Da Nang), the BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) with 84 officers and crew members of the Philippine Coast Guard, captained by Colonel Eleizer Gonzales Ibarientos, officially docked at the port, beginning a courtesy visit to Vietnam. The period is from April 14-17.
The visit was made at the invitation of the Vietnam Coast Guard and with the consent of the Ministry of National Defense. This is the first time a Philippine Coast Guard vessel has visited Vietnam, demonstrating the positive development in bilateral cooperation in maritime law enforcement.

The official welcoming ceremony for the ship took place solemnly with the participation of representatives of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, Da Nang City People's Committee, Military Region 5 Command, military and foreign affairs units and functional agencies.
In parallel with the ship's activities, the high-level delegation led by Rear Admiral Joeven L. Fabul - Deputy Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard, together with representatives of the Embassy and the Office of the Philippine Defense Attaché in Vietnam, also had meetings and participated in many meaningful activities.

During the visit, the two sides held a series of activities to enhance exchanges and cooperation: meetings with leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee, talks with the Command of Coast Guard Region 2, sports exchanges, as well as joint training at sea. Notably, the joint exercise between the BRP Gabriela Silang and the Vietnam Coast Guard ship on search and rescue and fire prevention was highly appreciated, demonstrating the spirit of close and professional coordination.
This visit is a concrete step to realize the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation signed by the two forces in January 2024. Through this, officers and sailors of the two countries have the opportunity to exchange professional experiences, share information and enhance mutual understanding in maintaining security and order at sea.
