"Culture Festival for Peace" towards the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital

Baoquocte.vn. In order to demonstrate the force associated with promoting and introducing the culture of Hanoi Capital, contributing to boosting the tourism economy in the city, "Cultural Festival for Peace" will be held on October 6 at Hoan Kiem Lake.

This is a large-scale cultural event, expected to attract about 10,000 participants; including about 700 domestic and international guest delegates, 9,000 participants including parade and performance forces including artisans and people from 30 districts, towns, and cities, along with artists, actors, musicians, and people from all walks of life in the capital, and international friends.

The event, organized by the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, is identified as a special highlight in the series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

The festival is also a program in the series of activities to celebrate the 1014th anniversary of King Ly Thai To establishing the capital in Thang Long. Therefore, the program is held at the main stage in the area of ​​King Ly Thai To Monument and the secondary stages in the areas: Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden, Dong Kinh-Nghia Thuc Square, Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater, Le Thai To-Ba Trieu-Trang Thi-Hang Khay intersection.

“Cultural Festival for Peace” consists of 3 main parts, of which the most notable are the live performance recreating the historical image of the Capital and the performance of the medley “Legend of Hoan Kiem Lake - Hanoi people - October emotions - Hanoi spirit - singing the ideals of youth” gathering 500 soldiers to reenact the army taking over the Capital in 1954; the performance and parade with the themes “Hanoi on the day of victory”, “Hanoi - heritage flow”, “Hanoi - city of peace - creative city”.

In addition, within the framework of the festival, there is also a program to introduce and promote the beauty and "richness" of Thang Long - Hanoi culture with performances and parades such as Thang Long Drum Performance combined with flag dance, dragon dance, lion dance; parade, introducing Hanoi's cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO and the country such as introducing Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple, Huong Pagoda, Tay Phuong Pagoda, Soc Temple...; intangible cultural heritages (tug of war, Phu My - Kieu Mai matchmaking festival, Thi Cam rice cooking, social customs and beliefs of Mo Muong).

In addition, the festival also has a parade, introducing typical cultural and religious heritages of the capital, such as the worship of Thang Long Tu Tran, the worship of Saint Giong, Tan Vien Son Thanh, Chu Dong Tu...

Many typical folk performing heritages were also performed, including ca tru, hat xam, Ai Lao singing and dancing, water puppetry, dry puppetry; parades and introductions of typical traditional craft villages of the capital such as Hang Trong and Kim Hoang folk paintings; Chuong conical hat craft village; Van Phuc silk weaving; Bat Trang pottery craft village; Thiet Ung handicraft village; Mach Trang vermicelli craft village; Luu Thuong-Phu Tuc grass weaving craft village; Ngo-Chuyen My village mother-of-pearl inlay; Van Tu sewing; Phu Vinh bamboo and rattan weaving; Son Dong fine art lacquer sculpture; Chang Son fans...

The festival will also introduce to a large number of visitors the rich, diverse but "unique" culinary culture of Hanoi, bearing the mark of the capital, such as Uoc Le ham, Thanh Tri rice rolls, Vong village green rice, Phu Thuong sticky rice, Tay Ho lotus products... or parades introducing flower villages, Ao Dai performances by young women; parades and demonstrations of the strength of the people of the capital and international friends.

The festival once again honors the value of peace, demonstrates pride in the title “City for Peace” awarded by UNESCO, affirms the international community’s recognition of the positive contributions that the capital Hanoi has always made in the struggle for peace as well as the cause of development, building a creative and dynamic capital in integration and development while still preserving Vietnamese traditions.
