On the morning of December 25, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy the plan for 2025. Comrade Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and directed the conference.

With the motto of action "Solidarity - Innovation - Determination", aiming to build an "Adaptive - Specific - Sustainable" agricultural sector, in 2024, the agricultural sector achieved and exceeded the expenditures and tasks assigned by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee. Specifically, the total production value (GO) of the whole sector is estimated at 14,339.65 billion VND (of which: aquaculture plays a key role, accounting for 57%, agriculture accounts for 42% and forestry accounts for 1%), growing 4.81%, leading the North Central and Central coastal regions. The added value (VA) is estimated at 7,344 billion VND, growing 4.79%; contributing 25.5% to the province's GDP growth and continuing to affirm itself as the economic support of the province. The rate of households using hygienic domestic water is 99.75%; of which, the rate of households using water meeting local standards is 97.52%. The forest coverage rate is estimated at 48.15%. The number of communes meeting the new rural standards is 1 commune, a total of 33 communes; the number of communes meeting the advanced new rural standards is 4 communes, a total of 16 communes. The indicators on the rate of disaster risk areas with warning signs about drowning and landslides; the rate of rural households with children using clean water during and after natural disasters; the rate of people evacuated before natural disasters occur in vulnerable areas such as coastal areas, low-lying areas, flooded areas, areas prone to flash floods and landslides are estimated at 100%.

Notably, the results of developing high-tech agriculture (CNC), during the year, an additional 259.67 hectares of CNC application were developed, exceeding the plan by 39.67 hectares, bringing the total newly developed CNC application area in the period 2021-2024 to 825.61 hectares (566.81 hectares of crops, 115.8 hectares of livestock, 143 hectares of aquaculture), reaching 82.56% of the target by 2025. The value of CNC agricultural production in 2024 is estimated at 990 million VND/ha of cultivated land, exceeding 41% of the target by 2025; attracting 40 investment enterprises; Shrimp seed output reached 45.184 billion, up 12.2% compared to 2023 and reaching 88.1% compared to the target by 2025. Most of the agricultural area applying CNC has been put into stable production, so the productivity and output of products increased compared to the same period, the value of CNC agricultural production increased by 10.9% compared to 2023 and contributed 14% to the total production value of the whole industry in 2024.

In 2025, the agricultural sector strives to maintain a growth rate of production value of 3-4% compared to 2024; production value on the area of ​​land with proactive irrigation reaches 155 million VND/ha; ensuring stable quality and the rate of actively irrigated production land reaches 62.4%; forest coverage rate reaches 49%; 5 more communes meet new rural standards and 4-5 communes meet advanced new rural standards; maintaining water supply quality and increasing the rate of households using clean water for daily life to 99.78%.

Speaking at the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the achievements of the agricultural sector in 2024; at the same time, pointed out a number of shortcomings that the sector needs to focus on overcoming in 2025 such as: The scale of agricultural production, especially commodity production, is still small, fragmented, not concentrated, not in depth, not focused on quality, especially post-harvest and processing quality; some main products of the agricultural sector have not been expanded in production, as well as the consumption market, especially the target of exporting products from grapes has not been achieved; new rural construction shows signs of slowing down, new rural construction targets have not been achieved. Emphasizing that 2025 is the year the whole province must make more efforts than ever, which is of great significance, creating a breakthrough to fulfill the goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress, the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025; he requested the Agriculture sector to focus on breakthrough tasks, specifically: Focus on advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue Projects to develop concentrated production areas in the irrigation areas of the Tan My irrigation system; develop OCOP products to become Ninh Thuan tourism ambassadors; develop goat and sheep products into Halal products; urgently carry out priority tasks and key tasks according to the set plan.

In the immediate future, focus on implementing a number of tasks during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2025 such as: Directing production and inspecting and supervising food safety of agricultural products, especially focusing on essential food items such as meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, providing enough for consumption, avoiding shortages and price hikes; ensuring clean water quality for people in rural areas before, during and after the Lunar New Year; implementing strict and effective control measures for livestock and poultry slaughter, trading, quarantine, veterinary hygiene; timely support for seeds of crops, livestock, vaccines, disinfectants, pesticides, etc. according to regulations when affected by natural disasters and epidemics to quickly restore production, ensure environmental sanitation, and stabilize people's lives to enjoy the Spring Festival. At the same time, proactively ensure the safety of irrigation works, reservoirs, river dykes, and sea dykes; Closely monitor weather developments and water levels in reservoirs, and direct appropriate water regulation to effectively serve the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop and water sources for daily life and production. Strengthen forest protection management, forest fire prevention and fighting, and support fishermen to go offshore.

On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the 4-star OCOP product certificate of the Provincial People's Committee to 12 products of 7 entities.
