According to data from the Nam Dinh Statistics Office, industrial production in October 2024 maintained positive growth momentum, estimated to increase by 2.28% over the previous month and 14.49% over the same period in 2023. In the first 10 months, the industrial production index of the whole industry increased by 14.71% over the same period last year, the highest increase since 2019.
In the strong growth of industrial production, the processing and manufacturing industry took the lead with the highest growth rate of 14.83%, contributing 14.43 percentage points to the overall growth; the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning increased by 3.94%, contributing 0.09 percentage points; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 21.25%, contributing 0.31 percentage points; the mining industry decreased by 32.03%, decreasing by 0.12 percentage points.

Some key secondary industries of the province had an industrial production index in the first 10 months that increased compared to the same period last year, including: Production of leather and related products increased by 25.89%; production of garments increased by 18.50%; production of prefabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment) increased by 17.88%; metal production increased by 16.25%.
Comments from the Nam Dinh Statistics Office also show that there is a transition in value contribution between labor-intensive manufacturing industries and high-tech manufacturing industries.
Specifically, for intensive industries such as textiles and footwear, the locality has a policy of reducing investment attraction, but these are still industries that contribute greatly to the province's industrial production.
Currently, the garment industry focuses on producing autumn and winter items for domestic consumption and export. The number of orders has increased significantly, and businesses are constantly recruiting workers to meet production needs.
Similarly, the footwear industry continues to increase production volume for export. It is expected that in the last months of the year, the export market for footwear products will become increasingly vibrant.
The high-tech industry has recorded a new potential increase in capacity from Quanta Computer Inc. of Taiwan (China). At the end of September 2024, only 16 months after being granted the Project Investment Registration Certificate, the Group officially exported the first 2 batches of laptops from the factory in My Thuan Industrial Park (Nam Dinh city) to supply customers who are the world's leading laptop corporations.
It is expected that by the end of 2024, the Group will employ about 2,000 workers, and by the end of 2025, about 9,000 workers. This is a testament to the effective cooperation between Nam Dinh province and foreign enterprises, promising to bring many bilateral economic benefits, contributing to enhancing the position of the locality in the high-tech industry market.
Corresponding to the high industrial production value, the labor utilization index of industrial production enterprises in October 2024 increased by 0.30% compared to the previous month. In the 10 months, this index increased by 2.91% compared to the same period last year; in which, the type of state-owned enterprises decreased by 12.50%, non-state enterprises increased by 0.12% and foreign-invested enterprises increased by 6.24%.
The health of enterprises in the province is currently quite good. Statistics show that the 10-month business registration record has recorded many positive signs. The number of enterprises entering the market and returning to operation (1,496 enterprises) is greater than the number of enterprises withdrawing from the market (1,081 enterprises); the amount of registered capital added to the economy is 3 times higher than the same period last year.
The strong growth of Nam Dinh's industry is partly due to the determination of Nam Dinh provincial leaders to attract investment and roll out the red carpet for industrial enterprises from all over the world.
During his working trip to Poland from October 31 to November 2, Nam Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Pham Gia Tuc widely promoted the potential for socio-economic development in general and industry in particular of the province.
In particular, the province's socio-economic infrastructure system has received investment attention, especially the synchronous transport infrastructure system, conveniently and smoothly connected to the national and regional transport system; infrastructure of economic zones, industrial zones and clusters... to meet the needs of investors. Investment promotion activities have been strongly implemented, Nam Dinh province is becoming the destination of many domestic and foreign investors when attracting a number of large, high-tech, green and sustainable development corporations, creating momentum for socio-economic development...
