Ha Tinh Market Management Department in coordination with functional forces has promptly prevented many cases of large quantities of smuggled goods circulating through the province, contributing to building a healthy market.
In less than a month, Ha Tinh market management forces seized 20.1 tons of smuggled sugar.
On July 2, 2023, Market Management Team No. 6 (Provincial Market Management Department) coordinated with the Traffic Police Department - Ha Tinh Provincial Police to stop and search a truck with license plate 34C-278.60 driven by Mr. Tang Van Giap (residing in Hai Duong City, Hai Duong Province). Upon inspection, the authorities discovered that the vehicle contained 8 tons of sugar without invoices or documents proving the legality of the goods. The driver admitted that all of the above goods were purchased on the market to trade for profit.
On July 14, following the advice of the Market Management Department, the Provincial People's Committee imposed an administrative fine of VND90 million on Mr. Tang Van Giap for trading in smuggled goods.
Mr. Tang Van Giap was fined 90 million VND for trading in smuggled goods.
On July 6, 2023 and June 10, 2023, Market Management Team No. 6 also stopped and inspected 2 trucks carrying a total of 12.1 tons of sugar passing through the province without invoices or documents proving the legality of the goods. The Provincial People's Committee has decided to fine these 2 cases a total of 160 million VND for trading in smuggled goods. Thus, in less than 1 month, the authorities have discovered 3 cases of trading in smuggled sugar with a total value of confiscated goods of more than 300 million VND.
Previously, on April 22, the market management force also discovered 500 pairs of children's plastic sandals without invoices or documents proving the legality of the goods transported by Mr. Pham Van Quang (residing in Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa) through the province. The unit imposed an administrative fine of VND5 million and confiscated all the violating goods.

According to data from the Market Management Department, since the beginning of the year, the unit has detected and handled 7 cases of violations of smuggled goods, imposed administrative fines of 289 million VND, and confiscated violating goods worth more than 385 million VND.
According to the assessment of the functional sector, the cases of smuggling violations are mainly in the circulation stage through the area on National Highway 1. This is a "lifeline" route, so smugglers often transport smuggled goods to local consumption.

In order to prevent smuggled goods, the Market Management Department has strengthened the work of infiltrating bases, grasping information sources, actively coordinating with the traffic police force to deploy professional measures, and controlling vehicles carrying imported goods. It can be seen that the demand for goods of the people is increasing. This is a favorable condition to promote production, business and trade of goods. However, some subjects, for economic benefits, disregard tricks to trade in smuggled goods, commit acts of commercial fraud, affecting the business market. This affects business activities, causes damage to consumers and at the same time causes tax losses for the State.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khoa - Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Market Management Department said: "In the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with functional agencies and local authorities to implement the directives of the General Department of Market Management and the Provincial People's Committee on market inspection and control, combating smuggled goods, counterfeit goods and trade fraud. In addition, strengthen the locality; propagate and mobilize people to denounce violations, contributing to building a healthy business environment".
In the first 7 months of the year, the Market Management Department handled 581 violations, including 117 cases of food safety, 45 cases of counterfeit goods, 7 cases of smuggled goods and hundreds of violations related to price listing, product labeling... The amount of administrative fines was nearly 2.2 billion VND; the value of confiscated and destroyed goods was over 1.1 billion VND. |
