Recognizing its responsibility and role in the fight against climate change, Vietnam has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and striving to achieve a net zero emission target by 2050. Among many solutions, developing a carbon market is one of the important keys to help Vietnam effectively respond to climate change and contribute to achieving this goal.

Nestlé introduces sustainability initiatives such as the shift to sustainable agriculture, regenerative agriculture and circular economy.

Accompanying the business community as Co-Chair of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) and also being ranked as the "Most Sustainable Enterprise in the Manufacturing Sector" for 3 consecutive years, Nestlé Vietnam, in collaboration with VBCSD and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), organized a sharing session on the topic "Carbon Credit Offsetting Mechanism in Vietnam and the Roadmap towards the Net Zero 2050 Target". The event aimed to connect VBCSD member businesses, with the participation and sharing of representatives of the Department of Climate Change, Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. At the event, businesses were updated with summary information on the results of the APEC Summit 2024, COP29 Conference, and Vietnam's latest policies to guide and support businesses in developing and implementing appropriate action programs to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This activity is part of the Awards Ceremony of the Vietnam Sustainable Enterprises Assessment and Ranking Program (CSI-100), an annual event to honor the Top 100 sustainable enterprises. 2024 marks the 9th year of CSI-100 and the 7th year that Nestlé Vietnam has accompanied the program. Participating in and applying the CSI Index helps businesses measure their achievements and shape their sustainable development strategies. "With the vision of becoming a globally connected and locally leading company in sustainable development, Nestlé not only sets ambitious goals and offers innovative solutions for itself, but also wishes to inspire and support the business community towards a green future, contributing to Vietnam's common commitments. Mr. Binu Jacob, General Director of Nestlé Vietnam, co-chair of VBCSD, said at the award ceremony: "This year we are very pleased that the number of businesses participating in the CSI-100 Program has increased and many units have taken specific actions to reduce emissions. The businesses selected this year are all businesses with good practices and are worthy of commendation. Through the CSI program, we call for the cooperation of management agencies, businesses and organizations to more widely share initiatives and good practices, together creating a greener and more prosperous Vietnam." Mr. Binu Jacob said. Since the beginning of 2024, Nestlé Vietnam has coordinated with partners to organize many training and sharing programs for businesses, especially units in the company's supply chain, to count, measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These activities demonstrate Nestlé's commitment to supporting the business community in practicing sustainable development, improving competitiveness, and reaching out to world markets. At the CSI 2024 announcement ceremony, Nestlé introduced sustainable development initiatives such as transitioning to sustainable agriculture, regenerative agriculture, and circular economy in production to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain. In addition, businesses also introduced initiatives applying practical technology VR360 virtual events to enhance the experience for guests attending the ceremony. These activities raise awareness and inspire action among the business and consumer communities.
