The Ministry of Construction has just sent a document to the National Assembly delegation of Dong Nai province in response to the province's voters' petition on policies to overcome traffic accidents and traffic jams on national highways passing through the area.

According to voters in Dong Nai province, to develop the key economic zone in the South, it is necessary to continue to have investment policies on transport infrastructure and urban development in the region. Dong Nai province is currently building Long Thanh International Airport and has many national highways passing through, so traffic accidents and traffic jams often occur. Therefore, there is a need for policies and solutions to overcome the above situation.

Prioritize resources for projects in the Southeast region

Responding to voters' petitions, the Ministry of Construction said it is closely coordinating with the People's Committee of Dong Nai province and other provinces in the Southeast region to prioritize investment resources for important and urgent driving force projects in Dong Nai province in particular and the Southeast region in general, serving traffic connectivity after the Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 is put into operation.

Specifically: Speed up construction progress, soon complete and put into operation the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Ben Luc - Long Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 expressway projects; Speed up investment preparation for projects: Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, expansion of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway; North - South high-speed railway and railway routes connecting Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Thu Thiem - Long Thanh regions...

According to the provisions of the 2024 Road Law and guiding documents, national highways (except National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road) will be decentralized to the provincial People's Committees for management and investment. Accordingly, national highways in Dong Nai province (National Highways 20, 51, 56, 20B, 51C, 56B) will be under the management and investment authority of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee.

"Currently, the Ministry of Construction is completing the dossier to transfer national highway infrastructure assets to hand over to the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee for management. After the national highways are handed over, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee will base on the transportation needs on the construction, upgrading, and expansion sections according to the approved planning as well as maintenance management to meet transportation needs, overcome traffic congestion, and serve the socio-economic development of the locality," the Ministry of Construction emphasized.

At the same time, it is said that when the above key transport infrastructure investment projects are completed as planned, together with the national highway and provincial road systems invested synchronously by Dong Nai province and localities in the region, they will form a complete transport infrastructure framework, strengthen regional connectivity, serve urban development and promote socio-economic development of Dong Nai province in particular and localities in the Southeast region in general.
