The joint communique of the conference affirmed that the Indo-Pacific plays an important role for NATO because developments in this region can directly affect the security of the Euro-Atlantic region. Previously, NATO proposed to establish a liaison office in Tokyo to facilitate coordination with Asia-Pacific partners.
At the conference, NATO member countries decided that each country should spend at least 2% of its GDP on military spending in the future and discussed plans to bring Ukraine closer to NATO.
