Suitable conversion

In recent years, in the agricultural development strategy, Binh Duong province has always put green agriculture and clean agricultural products at the top. Many farms, cooperatives, and farming families have gradually changed their farming methods, returning to traditional methods such as composting green manure, crop rotation, utilizing livestock waste to create organic fertilizers and microbial fertilizers, eliminating artificial factors, combined with modern technology to help fertile land to create a closed organic agriculture (AOA). From there, clean agricultural products with safe value standards are created, ensuring quality to meet the increasing needs of consumers.

Mr. Chau Van Loi, a farmer in Phuoc Hoa commune, Phu Giao district, said that products created from organic farming bring great value, ensuring safety for consumers and producers. Initially, he planted 2 hectares of grapefruit in the direction of organic farming, realizing the high efficiency, his family continued to expand to 5 hectares of organic grapefruit. Currently, his grapefruit garden brings clear economic efficiency, with an average revenue of 500 million VND/year. As one of the people with many years of experience in growing citrus trees and applying many clean agricultural production standards, Mr. Doan Minh Chien, owner of Doan Minh Chien integrated farm in Bac Tan Uyen district, has applied organic farming. Mr. Doan Minh Chien shared that in order to innovate agricultural production, he has applied organic farming standards to his orange and grapefruit gardens. Compared to other clean agricultural production standards, organic farming requires more careful farming methods and stricter compliance. His farm is also applying new technologies in organic farming.

Vinamit Joint Stock Company is a pioneer in investing in large-scale organic farms in Vietnam. The company has a total area of over 150 hectares, with over 50 varieties of plants, certified for organic farming and organic agricultural products according to USDA (US Department of Agriculture) and EU organic standards. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoang, Director of Vinamit Joint Stock Company, shared that making organic fertilizer is similar to NPK fertilizer, but it does not come from chemical fertilizers but from biological products. Organic farming requires a long-term and costly investment process, but ensures quality and health safety for consumers.

The inevitable direction

Binh Duong focuses on developing green agriculture in areas with gray soil, distributed in Dau Tieng district, Ben Cat city, Thuan An city, Thu Dau Mot city; at the same time, expanding implementation in areas with golden soil, mainly in Bac Tan Uyen district, Phu Giao district, Tan Uyen city in the form of high-tech agriculture. Currently, the whole province has an area of high-tech cultivation of about 6,200 hectares, an area of urban agriculture of about 180 hectares; of which about 700 hectares are grown in an organic direction.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, most farms and cooperatives in the province are now paying more and more attention to organic production, meeting the requirements of agricultural product safety standards. Using organic fertilizers in production is also the leading alternative to chemical fertilizers, both bringing higher efficiency and not causing negative impacts on the environment. Microbiological organic fertilizers contain many microorganisms that are beneficial to plants, helping the soil to be loose, retain moisture, and not discolor the soil. In addition, microbial organic fertilizers also provide almost all nutrients, increase the immunity of crops, and help increase productivity by 20% compared to when using inorganic fertilizers.

Mr. Pham Van Bong, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that in recent years, the province's agricultural sector has increased the production of organic agricultural products. Because organic agricultural production is consistent with the policy of restructuring the agricultural sector towards increasing added value, sustainable development, environmental friendliness, and export orientation, contributing to positioning and enhancing the brand of agricultural products of Binh Duong province in particular and Vietnam in general on the world agricultural map. Accordingly, Binh Duong province has built specialized areas towards improving quality, efficiency, added value and increasing the competitiveness of products in the market through the form of sustainable value chain linkage, with geographical indications, traceability; applying science and technology, practicing production according to good agricultural processes, biodiversity, organic agricultural products and equivalents, meeting standards and technical regulations on food safety and environmental protection.

In the coming time, the agricultural sector of Binh Duong province will continue to promote restructuring the sector in association with new rural construction; prioritize agricultural development with clean, environmentally friendly products, organic agriculture, high productivity, high value, export potential, suitable for climate change and ecological environment. At the same time, the sector will also promote production according to standards, domestic market requirements and export orientation.
