On the side of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, attending was Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Deputy Head of the Southern Representative Office of the Central Committee.
This is a series of humanitarian activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), and the 162nd anniversary of the founding of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (May 8).
Implementing the plan to support scholarships for disadvantaged students in the 2024-2025 school year, the Provincial Red Cross Association has considered awarding scholarships to over 1,000 students with a total value of over 5 billion VND. Accordingly, each student will receive a scholarship worth 5 million VND/year and a gift. To date, hundreds of students have received meaningful scholarships. In this program alone, the Provincial Red Cross Association awarded the final scholarships to 561 students.
Along with the above program, the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival was also held at the Provincial Convention and Exhibition Center, attracting hundreds of volunteers to participate. As a result, the Organizing Committee of the festival received 381 units of blood, each unit of 350ml.
The Red Cross Association also coordinated with the Department of Health and the Provincial Young Physicians Association to organize humanitarian medical examination and treatment for 500 people in difficult circumstances.
At the “Zero-VND Market” session, the Provincial Red Cross Association supported goods and essential necessities for 500 disadvantaged people. Each person who went to the market received many goods and necessities worth more than 800,000 VND, a free health check-up voucher worth nearly 600,000 VND and 500,000 VND in cash.
The total value of humanitarian activities in the program is more than 3.6 billion VND.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that continuing the humanitarian tradition of the nation, in recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of Binh Duong province have always strived to achieve many outstanding results in many fields. In that common achievement, there are contributions from the association's work and the team of cadres, members, volunteers, and young people of the Red Cross in the whole province. The effectiveness of the implementation of humanitarian charity activities carried out by the association has promptly provided material and spiritual support to people in difficult circumstances, vulnerable groups in society, contributing to ensuring social security and socio-economic development... He believes that under the leadership of Party committees, government at all levels, and the joint efforts of the whole society, the Humanitarian Month in the province in 2025 will achieve the highest results and support many people in difficult circumstances.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society awarded certificates of merit to 19 collectives and individuals with outstanding contributions to humanitarian activities in 2024. The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 10 collectives and individuals with many contributions in mobilizing and supporting people to overcome the consequences of storms and floods. The Provincial Red Cross Society expressed gratitude to collectives, individuals, agencies, units, enterprises, and philanthropists who accompanied and supported resources for the humanitarian activities of the Society; and expressed gratitude to the Executive Committee and Standing Committee members of the Provincial Red Cross Society for the 2021-2026 term who have retired and transferred to other jobs and have made many contributions to the work of the Society and the Provincial Red Cross movement.
