On September 4, Chinese President Xi Jinping received African leaders in Beijing to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) 2024 Summit, which will take place from September 3-6.

FOCAC 2024, themed "Jointly Promote Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community of Shared Future", is the largest diplomatic event hosted by China in many years, with representatives from about 50 African countries attending.
According to Xinhua news agency, in his speech, President Xi Jinping highly appreciated the relationship between China and Africa.
Affirming that the two sides have maintained cooperation and coordination on major regional and world issues, as well as together making the voices of Southern Hemisphere countries stronger, the leader believes that with close cooperation, the two sides will reap new achievements.
Previously, also on September 4, the Chinese President separately received leaders of countries attending FOCAC 2024 and made many statements about bilateral relations with the countries.
* During talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the two countries issued a joint statement on establishing a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era, pledging to work towards a high-quality China-South Africa community with a shared future.
At the same time, South Africa will integrate Belt and Road cooperation with its National Development Plan.
Beijing and Cape Town jointly stressed their stance toward building an equitable, orderly multipolar world and an inclusive and inclusive economic globalization, and supported each other's efforts to launch a new era of building a high-quality China-Africa community with a shared future.
Notably, the two sides agreed to promote the common goal of modernization and will strengthen cooperation in traditional areas such as agriculture, health, medical science and infrastructure development, in addition to seizing opportunities brought about by the new scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation.
* At a meeting with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, the two leaders announced upgrading bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership and building a high-quality China-Nigeria community with a shared future.
President Xi Jinping suggested that the two sides should jointly realize their modernization through high-quality cooperation, promote connectivity and integration of infrastructure, energy and mineral resources with industries, and promote cooperation for growth in areas such as digital economy and new energy.
Meanwhile, Nigerian President Tinubu expressed hope that the West African country would become China's largest trade and investment partner in Africa.

* On the same day, September 4, President Xi Jinping and Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi also announced the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
In addition, Xi Jinping and Cameroonian President Paul Biya announced the upgrading of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
* At FOCAC 2024, China signed a number of agreements covering projects ranging from electricity and infrastructure, to drinking water and communications technology with Chad and Senegal.
