Vietnam-China navies conduct joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin

On the morning of April 16, Squadron 015-Tran Hung Dao, Ship 016-Quang Trung, Naval Region 4 left Beihai Military Port (China) to participate in the 38th joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin with the Chinese Navy.

Implementing the direction of the Head of the Ministry of National Defense , based on the Plan of the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of National Defense) on organizing the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and the Ministry of National Defense of China on Joint Patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin and the results of the 17th annual meeting on Joint Patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin between the Navies of Vietnam and China, from April 10-19, the Navy organized the sending of the 015, 016 fleet and the Working Group to China to participate in activities within the framework of the Exchange and conduct joint patrols in the Gulf of Tonkin with the Chinese Navy.

On the morning of April 16, Squadron 015-Tran Hung Dao, Ship 016-Quang Trung (Brigade 162, Naval Region 4) and the working delegation of the Vietnam Navy led by Colonel Do Minh, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4, left Beihai Military Port (Beihai City, Guangxi Province, China), to participate in the 38th joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin with the Chinese Navy.

Participating in this joint patrol, the Chinese Navy sent two frigates numbered 628 and 630, commanded by Colonel Trieu Diem Vu, Squadron Leader of the Chinese Navy Frigate Squadron.

Before leaving the port, Colonel Do Minh and Colonel Trieu Diem Vu reported online to the Ministers of Defense of the two countries (who are participating in the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China) on the results of the exchange activities in Beihai city and preparations for the joint patrol mission.

As planned, along with the joint patrol mission in the Gulf of Tonkin, the two countries' naval fleets will also conduct joint exercises on search and rescue and light communication.

Missile frigate 015 and missile frigate 016 are the two most modern surface combat ships of the Navy, Vietnam People's Army. This is also the first time these two ships have participated in a joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin waters. Previously, the Navy often used ships of the Naval Region 1 Command.
