Da Nang Self-studying IT through online lectures, Phu Nhan continuously won first and second prizes in IT competitions.
Nguyen Phu Nhan, class 10A5, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, received the news that he won first prize in the national excellent student competition in Informatics with 21.8 points on the afternoon of January 25. Of the more than 130 first prizes in this year's competition, only four were from grade 10. In addition, with this score, Nhan will participate in the selection round for the International Informatics Olympiad team in April.
"I was so happy, I shouted to everyone. The whole family stopped everything to congratulate me," Nhan said. Last night, the male student was also restless with joy when he received many congratulatory messages and calls from friends and relatives.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Sieu, Nhan's homeroom teacher, said that this year, Da Nang's team has 10 IT students, including 5 students from class 10A5. Besides Nhan, the other four students also won prizes. This is a very proud achievement.
"I also had high hopes for Phu Nhan but was surprised when she won first prize," said Mr. Sieu, explaining that the reason was because it was her first time competing and she did not have the same experience as some of her 11th and 12th graders.
According to Mr. Sieu, this year's exam is considered difficult, consisting of 6 questions and taking place over two days. Candidates must do it on a computer, then code it onto a CD and submit it. Of the 6 questions, questions 1, 3, 5, and 6, which are about graph theory, are considered the most difficult. Questions 2 and 4 are about Math combination knowledge.
"I had encountered a question similar to question 2, so that day I had a plan to do it faster. For the remaining questions, it took me a long time to do 30-40%," Nhan recounted.

Nhan's love affair with Informatics began in 7th grade. While on the Math team of Chu Van An Secondary School, Nhan was selected to prepare for the Da Nang City Youth Informatics Competition. After only one year, Nhan won first prize in the competition and second prize in the National Youth Informatics Competition.
After this achievement, Nhan learned more about Computer Science. The male student majoring in Mathematics was initially overwhelmed by the new knowledge and the documents were mostly in English. Although he had a foundation in English since childhood, Nhan still found it difficult to understand specialized documents.
"Because of my passion, I researched and figured out how the code worked," Nhan recalls.
Nhan often codes according to online instructions and then tests them. After each time, the male student studies and adjusts to see the changes. In addition, to gain more knowledge, Nhan listens to lectures and studies the curriculum of many major universities on YouTube.
In grade 9, Nhan continuously won first prize in the city's excellent student IT and Math competitions; the national youth IT competition, the Central and Central Highlands Olympics... The male student then passed the entrance exam to the IT specialized class of Le Quy Don school and was selected for the national competition team.
Nhan said that during the review period, he studied all day at school, usually until 7pm. When he got home, Nhan studied for about 2-3 hours. In addition, the male student often asked questions and received experience sharing and motivation from his seniors.
According to the male student, participating in competitions helps him improve his skills and make more friends in the local area. With the national first prize he just won, he is more confident in the path he has chosen.
Nhan's upcoming goal is to continue to compete and achieve high scores in the national exam in grades 11 and 12. He also plans to improve his English skills and take the IELTS exam to find opportunities to study abroad in the field of Artificial Intelligence in the future.
