This afternoon, February 12, the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) announced information on regular university enrollment in 2025, notably adding information technology to the admission groups.
3 groups of admission methods, additional admission combinations
According to Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang - Vice Principal of the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), in 2025, the school will consider 3 groups of admission methods: direct admission and priority admission; admission based on the scores of the capacity assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025; admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam in 2025.
"In particular, the school plans to enroll the first course in multimedia communications and a joint program with the University of Newcastle, Australia, in computer engineering.
In addition, the school has added admission combinations with information technology subjects to meet the increasing demand for human resources in the field of information technology and digital transformation," Mr. Khang added.
Method group 1 - Direct admission and priority admission:
The school plans to apply a direct admission policy and give priority to the following subjects: candidates admitted directly according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; excellent and talented candidates recommended by the principal of the high school who meet specific criteria such as good academic performance, good conduct, and outstanding achievements in learning.
Candidates from the list of 149 high schools with priority for admission to Ho Chi Minh City National University (from 2026, priority will only be given to specialized/gifted students); candidates who have won high prizes in prestigious exams (Informatics Olympiad, Road to Olympia, ICPC, SEA Games, ASIAD...); candidates with prestigious international certificates (SAT, ACT, A level, IB) with satisfactory results.
Method group 2 - Admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025:
Admission score = Aptitude test score + Priority points (if any)
Priority points include international language certificates (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, JLPT, etc.) and priority subjects and regions according to regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University and the Ministry of Education and Training.
Admission score is calculated on a scale of 1,200, with a maximum of 1,200 points.
Method group 3 - Admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam:
Admission score = High school graduation exam score of admission subject group + Priority score (if any)
Priority points include international language certificates (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, JLPT) and priority for subjects and regions according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Admission scores are calculated on a 30-point scale, with a maximum of 30 points.
In addition, the school also considers admission based on its own criteria for joint programs: joint program with Birmingham City University - UK, with degrees awarded by Birmingham City University (majoring in computer science, computer networks and information security); joint program with Newcastle University, Australia (expected to start enrolling in 2025 majoring in computer systems engineering).
All 7 admission groups have math.
This year, the University of Information Technology plans to enroll 14 regular university majors, including many key majors such as computer science, artificial intelligence, information security and microchip design.
In the 2025 enrollment period, in addition to the same admission combinations as in 2024, the school plans to add a number of new combinations with computer science subjects such as math - English - computer science, math - physics - computer science, in accordance with the new high school program of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Notably, out of the total of 7 admission combinations applied by the school this year, all combinations include math.
