Improving the effectiveness of English teaching and learning suitable for Gen Z and Gen Alpha students

NDO - With the participation of about 800 public and non-public primary and secondary school teachers, the training program "Improving the effectiveness of English teaching and learning with Linearthinking" has brought a series of experiences and opportunities to practice new ideas through teaching practice, thereby contributing to improving students' foreign language learning results.

Organized by the Center for Information and Educational Programs (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training), the training program is an activity to concretize Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW dated August 12, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013 of the 11th Party Central Committee "On fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration".

At the training session, delegates were trained in knowledge, developed professional skills and improved their English proficiency through 4 main topics: Problems students encounter; Causes; Solutions; Technology platforms to support learning.

Many teachers attended the training session.

Accordingly, Ms. Ha Dang Nhu Quynh, Academic Director at DOL English, the instructor of the training session, analyzed the difficulties that students often encounter when learning English divided into 4 groups of levels; limitations of the teaching method of accumulating grammar and vocabulary and practicing questions.

From here, Ms. Nhu Quynh proposed a new approach associated with systemic thinking, especially considering each student as a problem to be solved, aiming to deeply resolve the backlog of problems.

Regarding Linearthinking, Ms. Nhu Quynh analyzed the benefits compared to traditional learning methods, and said: this is a method that combines systematicity, thinking and Vietnamese characteristics; it can be effectively applied in practicing reading, writing, speaking and listening skills as well as when learning vocabulary, improving grammar...

Also at the training session, delegates were exposed to the LMS technology system that supports knowledge consolidation, helping students do homework more easily and effectively.
