Isar Aerospace said that the Andoya spaceport has new features compared to other spaceports in Europe. The airport is expected to become a new center for satellite launching activities in the future.
Daniel Metzler, CEO of Isar Aerospace, stressed that over the past five years, the company has been working to solve the most important bottleneck in the European space industry – access to space.
The inauguration ceremony of the Andoya spaceport was attended by Norway's Crown Prince Haakon. The Norwegian company Andoya Space will install a launch pad for the airport at a site previously used only for scientific experiments.
In addition, the German company Isar Aerospace has successfully built Spectrum 2, a two-stage spacecraft capable of carrying one ton of cargo. The ship is expected to launch for the first time from Andoya airport. The launch date of Spectrum is not yet known, but Isar Aerospace confirmed that it will bring the first launch system to Andoya this year and conduct a test flight soon.
