Reuters news agency reported that police are searching for a man who opened fire on a crowd at the Mount Eden Avenue subway station in the Bronx district of New York City (USA), killing one person and injuring five others.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) said the deceased victim was a 34-year-old man. Five injured people, aged 14-71, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened on a train where two groups of teenagers were fighting. Then one of them pulled out a gun and started shooting. The incident happened on the train but the victims and casualties were all on the platform waiting for the train.
Tarik Sheppard, NYPD deputy commissioner for communications, said the gunman is now wanted by the NYPD and urged him to turn himself in.
According to New York police, shootings on the subway are rare. In 2022, a man shot and wounded 10 people on a train traveling through Brooklyn, the first mass shooting on the subway system since 1984.
