The Government Office has just conveyed the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh after inspecting key transport projects in the early spring of At Ty. In particular, the southern localities were assigned many important tasks by the head of the Government.

At the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway, the Prime Minister requested the People's Committee of Binh Duong province to speed up and strive to inaugurate the project on September 2, 2026, on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the country. Of which, the 7.1km section in the province needs to strive to be completed in 2025.

The Prime Minister also directed the People's Committees of Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong provinces to urgently deploy and complete investment procedures for the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway project in the first quarter of 2025, starting construction on April 30.

The People's Committees of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh completed investment procedures for the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project and urgently selected investors to implement it before April 30.

Notably, the Prime Minister mentioned two metro projects that need to be studied and implemented.

Specifically, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province will soon study and invest in a metro line connecting Ho Chi Minh City from Suoi Tien railway station to Binh Duong. The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City will preside over and propose a special mechanism to invest in a metro line connecting Tan Son Nhat airport with Long Thanh airport (Dong Nai), and study and select investors in the form of "turnkey".

The Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Transport to study a plan to upgrade National Highway 51 into an urban expressway to improve traffic capacity and reduce traffic congestion and accidents.

For Long Thanh airport, the Prime Minister requested the construction units to build the overall progress critical path according to the required target to celebrate the 14th National Party Congress and major national holidays. The project completion deadline is still determined to be December 31, 2025.

Of which, component project 3 (runway, passenger terminal) has the largest and heaviest workload. ACV reconstructs a new progress gantt line and detailed progress by month and week for each bid package and each contractor for control, with the goal of basically completing before December 31.

After the Lunar New Year holiday, the Prime Minister requested the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACV to directly work with equipment suppliers to speed up progress, basically completing before April 30.

For component project 4 (ground services), the Prime Minister directed relevant ministries and branches to study the plan to assign the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, ACV, Vietnam Airlines, and Vietjet to implement the remaining items according to the provisions of law, completing them synchronously with the project's construction items.

Regarding traffic connecting to Long Thanh airport, the Prime Minister requested the implementation of connecting traffic projects (Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, 4, Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, expansion of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway...), ensuring to meet traffic needs when the airport comes into operation.

Regarding the Tan Son Nhat T3 passenger terminal project, the Prime Minister assessed that the project has basically completed the main items, expected to be put into operation on April 30, 3 months ahead of schedule. The head of the Government considered this a proud achievement, a basis for striving to basically complete Long Thanh airport before December 31.

Finally, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s conclusion mentioned the goal of completing the Dong Dang - Tra Linh and Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressways. These routes are not only significant for the economic development of Lang Son and Cao Bang, but also an important piece to seamlessly connect the North - South expressway from Cao Bang to Ca Mau in 2025.

"These two projects must definitely be completed and put into operation before December 31," the Prime Minister requested.
