Want to work in Graphic Design, should I go to college or university?

I'm looking into Graphic Design but I'm not sure if I need to go to college or not.

I am in grade 11 this year, and have a special interest in Graphic Design. I plan to pursue this field in the future, but I am wondering whether it is necessary to go to university or just take a short course?

I hope everyone gives me advice to make the best decision.
