Becoming an actor is not as easy as many people think. Most schools that recruit students in this field specialize in art and have high requirements for aptitude tests.

Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema

Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema has quite high requirements for admission quality. Candidates must go through 2 preliminary and final rounds.

Candidates participating in the preliminary round must be between 17 and 22 years old; minimum height for men is 1m65 and for women is 1m55; balanced body, no disabilities; good voice, no lisp, no stutter (For Cheo, Cai Luong, puppetry, Tuong performances, good and standard singing voice is required). In particular, when participating in the contest, candidates must not wear Ao Dai, skirts and makeup.

The final round is a Literature exam according to the standard exam of the Ministry of Education and Training combined with an acting talent exam.

This year, the benchmark score for Drama, Film and Television Actors and Cheo Actors is 17 points. Of which, Drama, Film and Television Actors has 38 qualified candidates and Cheo Actors has only 14 candidates.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema

Candidates in the Southern region can apply to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema to realize their dream of becoming an actor. This is one of the schools that trains in the field of culture and arts, the training programs require special talents so they do not accept applications.

The school trains actors for 4 years, during which time you can both study and participate in filming, you can act in short films or TV series depending on your ability to pass the casting round of the film crew.

In 2023, the school will enroll Drama, Film and Television Actors with the S subject combination (Ability + Grade 12 Literature score). In addition, candidates must take two more rounds of exams: preliminary and final.

In the preliminary round, the school will test the contestants' physique, voice and acting talent. In the final round, the contestants will have to perform a stage play according to the exam question, without a second person and within 10 minutes; demonstrate the situation according to the requirements of the judges and answer questions related to the exam question.

Tuition fee for the 2023-2024 school year for full-time university is expected to be 13.5 million VND/school year.

Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture and Arts

In 2023, the Drama and Film Acting Department of Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture and Arts will enroll students in two ways: based on the average score of the entire 12th grade year and based on the aptitude test score. Candidates will have to take two aptitude tests, in which aptitude 1 is performing a skit and aptitude 2 is speaking and feeling music.

The school's tuition fees range from 284,000 - 316,000 VND/month. The expected tuition fees for the 2023 - 2024 school year will increase by 500,000 - 1 million VND/semester compared to the previous school year.
