EFFECTIVE WAYS TO REVIEW REAL-LIFE MATH
According to Mr. Dang Huu Tri, head of the math group at Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1), the structure of the math exam in the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 has been announced by the Department of Education and Training, including 7 questions, reducing 1 practical math question compared to previous years' exams, somewhat reducing the pressure on students. In which, questions 1 and 2 are basic math; from questions 3 to 6 are practical math; question 7 is general geometry math. The exam includes knowledge of probability and statistics, which is a new knowledge of the 2018 General Education Program.
The three practical math questions in the exam will be of many types, which is the part that always causes students difficulty. Specifically, students often have the most difficulty in reading and analyzing the questions, and identifying keywords.
Practical math problems usually have a lot of facts and students have difficulty classifying those facts. Therefore, students spend a lot of time to deeply review this content. Many students have spent a lot of time just solving practical math problems with hundreds of solutions but are not effective.
This year, for the first time, grade 9 students will take the grade 10 exam based on the 2018 General Education Program.

To be effective, students should review by topic, not review widely; closely follow the structure, matrix, and reference questions of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City. By mastering the skills of doing these types of topics, students can solve practical problems.
In addition, when solving practical problems, students need to pay close attention to converting units and rounding numbers accurately.
Students are also often afraid of geometry (question 7), so according to Mr. Tri, students should pay attention to practicing drawing, presentation, and getting familiar with the system of exercises and math problems suitable for admission. It is necessary to pay attention to equipping and practicing calculation skills. Particularly, students who want to do more "question c" in geometry need to practice knowledge and geometric thinking in grade 8, master basic knowledge such as Thales' theorem, angle bisector properties, area ratios, etc.

The structure of the 10th grade entrance exam this year has an important and obvious change, which is that it will not use works and materials in textbooks. Students need to clearly understand this new point to make appropriate changes in the process of preparing knowledge.

Instead, students must have reading comprehension skills, a solid grasp of literature knowledge, the ability to perceive, and life knowledge to do well on the exam".
Based on the illustration of the literature subject of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, according to Ms. Diem Chau, to do well in the reading comprehension section, students must have a solid grasp of general knowledge from the lower grades. To write a 200-word reading analysis, students must have the ability to read and understand, and the ability to appreciate literary works. Therefore, students need to refer to many other literary works, practice their reading comprehension skills... thereby training themselves with skills when approaching any literary work.
According to teachers at Vo Thanh Trang Secondary School, the new point of this year's exam is the writing section. With a passage from an argumentative or informative text, the exam will ask a question related to the genre, then pose a problem for students to solve. For this part, in order to get a high score, in addition to acquiring knowledge in school, students must proactively equip themselves with social knowledge.

ENGLISH COURSES IMPROVE LANGUAGE APPLICATION
According to teacher Pham Thi Xuan Oanh, head of the English group at Le Van Tam Secondary School (Binh Thanh District), this year's exam has a new point of increasing the application of language to real life. Therefore, it requires students to have skills during the review process to do the exam effectively.
Ms. Xuan Oanh said that the English exam has 40 questions and all the questions are almost all set in real life contexts, not just single questions like before. Therefore, students cannot learn by rote but must understand and apply words in real life to do the test.
With questions about signs, this year in addition to traffic signs, the exam will feature a variety of signs in life, related to each situation, requiring students to not only have English vocabulary but also have practical knowledge and know how to observe life around them.
For conversational passages, the test questions are not simply short passages like before, but can be announcements, advertisements, flyers, regulations, rules, etc. This
demonstrate the applicability of language in real life. Therefore, according to Ms. Xuan Oanh, students must pay attention to the application of vocabulary in real life.
Another difference is that the English test will remove the word arrangement and sentence arrangement sections, and instead include questions about dictionary use, requiring students to know how to apply and use dictionaries. The reason for this change, according to the head of the English group at Le Van Tam Secondary School, is that currently students hardly know how to use paper dictionaries, but only use apps and Google. Therefore, these two replacement questions will aim to equip students with the skills to use dictionaries, word semantics, and apply them to real-life situations. Therefore, students need to study by topic, main point, grasp vocabulary and practice regularly.
