As planned, the Prime Minister continued to inspect a series of important projects in the Southeast region, including: Long Thanh airport, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Nhon Trach bridge (part of component project 1A - Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3) and Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport.
Nhon Trach Bridge - where the Prime Minister inspected 3 times
In recent days, the construction site of Nhon Trach Bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province has been busy with construction to be completed in the next few months. Including this time, this is the third time the Prime Minister has visited and inspected the largest bridge on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3.
During previous visits, the Prime Minister encouraged investors and contractors to speed up the construction of Nhon Trach Bridge, striving to complete it by the April 30 holiday.
At the same time, the Prime Minister also requested a comprehensive review to find solutions to speed up the construction progress of the connecting sections to the bridge to open the route and soon put the project into operation.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport), following the Prime Minister's direction, the investor and the contractor focused on construction "3 shifts" regardless of holidays and Tet. Overcoming challenges in materials and site clearance, the project has achieved positive results.
Specifically, the CW1 package (Nhon Trach bridge, 2.6km long) constructed by Kumho E&C contractor has currently reached 93% of the volume. The CW2 package (approach roads at both ends of the bridge, 5.6km long) constructed by the Dongbu - VNCN joint venture has reached 73% of the progress.
Thus far, the total progress of the entire project has reached 85.1%, exceeding the contract progress by 8.4%. At this speed, Nhon Trach Bridge is guaranteed to be completed by April 30, shortening the progress by 4 months. The investor and contractor also aim to complete the entire project by June 30, putting it into operation 3 months ahead of schedule.
Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway: Some places are 8 months ahead of schedule, others are still waiting for resolution
As an expressway connecting directly to Long Thanh airport, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway has a total length of 53.7 km, divided into 3 component projects.
Component project 1, 16km long, is implemented by Dong Nai province; Component project 2, 18.2km long, is implemented by the Ministry of Transport; and Component project 3, about 19.5km long, is implemented by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Of which, the expressway section implemented by Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is making very good progress, with construction output reaching 69%. Notably, the locality and contractor set a target of completion by April 30, shortening the progress by 8 months.

On the contrary, component projects 1 and 2 through Dong Nai province are behind schedule due to problems with land clearance, lack of fill land and lack of dumping sites.
Specifically, at component project 1, the construction progress has only reached 22% (9% behind schedule), while component project 2 has reached 28% (7% behind schedule).
Notably, although the expressway started construction in June 2023, the source of land for the section passing through Dong Nai province has not yet met the demand.
To resolve the issue, the investor and contractor have proposed that the locality approve the use of land resources in suitable locations according to special mechanisms, such as the planned area of Terminal T3 of Long Thanh airport (reserves of about 5.2 million m³).
However, although the Government stated in the announcement dated February 28, 2024, the National Assembly Economic Committee commented on July 9, 2024, and Resolution 140 of the National Assembly also mentioned it, so far the locality has not had an official opinion on this proposal.
In addition, other locations such as Phuoc Tan ward (Bien Hoa city), Long Giao town (Cam My district)... are still waiting for the locality to process procedures to approve the policy.
Series of projects help Southeast region take off
Besides the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot expressway which started construction on the 4th day of Tet, projects such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai and Dau Giay - Tan Phu expressways (phase 1) are also being surveyed and bid for by competent authorities to select investors to prepare for construction this year.
While Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 is under construction, localities in the Southeast region have also proposed building Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4. Currently, the State Appraisal Council is appraising the project to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and submission to the National Assembly for approval of the investment policy.
In addition, on January 16, the Prime Minister approved the investment policy of the Can Gio international transit port project (HCMC). The project is considered a large-scale project, bringing great benefits to the country. The construction of Can Gio transit port is to realize the resolutions of the Party and the State on the development of the Southeast region and HCMC.
