According to Mr. Le Van Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD), by the end of March 2025, Dak Mil and Krong No districts had entered the peak of drought. Thousands of hectares of crops were at risk of being seriously affected by water shortages, mainly coffee, pepper, and fruit trees.

Specifically, in Dak Mil district, about 4,700 hectares of crops are starting to lack water. The water source at Dak Sor stream passing through Dak Mil and Krong No has dried up, leaving no water source for crops.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment has requested Dak Nong Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to quickly deploy an emergency water transfer plan to serve crop irrigation.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of districts and Gia Nghia City to inspect and deploy drought prevention and control plans in the area; organize propaganda to households to use water-saving and effective irrigation.

Mr. Tran Van Chay, Deputy Director of Dak Nong Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited, informed that currently, the main solution being implemented by the company is to closely monitor the water situation of irrigation works. For the drought-stricken area in Dak Mil district, the company has transferred water from Doi 1 lake and Tay lake to lakes 35, 40 and Dak Ken lake in Dak Lao commune to combat the drought. "After monitoring, the water has been transferred stably and is basically meeting the irrigation needs of the people's crops," said Mr. Chay.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Chinh, Dak Tho village, Dak Lao commune, Dak Mil district, has nearly 1 hectare of coffee. Thanks to timely water regulation, his coffee plantation has not been affected much. However, with the current hot weather, he is very worried that the drought may become more severe, causing the water sources in the lakes in the area to dry up, not enough to supply the crops.
