(Dan Tri) - According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, transport output during the 2025 Lunar New Year increased to a record high, especially at Tan Son Nhat airport.
According to statistics, during the 10-day Tet holiday of At Ty 2025 (from January 24 to February 2), Vietnamese airlines served more than 1.67 million passengers (including 1.1 million domestic passengers), an increase of 12.8% over the same period in 2024.
Passengers passing through airports nationwide also increased over the same period, with approximately 3.6 million passengers (up 16%).
The three airports with the highest traffic include Tan Son Nhat (1.38 million passengers, up 7.6%); Noi Bai airport (900,000 passengers, up 12%) and Da Nang airport (381,000 passengers, up 26%).

Notably, on the peak day (January 24), Tan Son Nhat Airport recorded a record of 1,002 takeoffs and landings (up 10% compared to the same period in 2024), with 152,000 passengers (up 13% compared to the same period in 2024). This level of exploitation exceeded the Lunar New Year 2020, when it was not affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
The problem that emerged during some days during the peak period of Tet was the situation of delayed flights. This situation arose largely due to unfavorable weather conditions when fog and low clouds appeared at airports in the North.
Bad weather causes planes to take off late, circle, or divert to another airport. In addition, infrastructure overload increases the time it takes for planes to taxi to the parking lot and onto the runway.

Previously, to prepare for the Tet peak season, the Civil Aviation Authority created conditions for airlines to add 15 more aircraft, bringing the total number of aircraft in operation to 212.
During Tet, the Department has directed to increase night flights. Vietnam Airlines arranged 1,500 flights, Vietjet 1,590 flights and Bamboo 260 flights. Night flights help reduce congestion, delays and cancellations.
The Civil Aviation Authority also directed to increase the frequency of taxis, technology cars and buses to serve the passengers at the airport. In particular, Tan Son Nhat airport has arranged free buses to transport passengers from the terminal to/from bus stations.
