Bodies of 3 young men found sucked into sewer while bathing in river

Authorities have just found the bodies of three young men in Ben Tre who were sucked into a sewer while bathing in the Tien River. The victims were found about 50 meters from their original location.

On the afternoon of February 4, Ben Tre Provincial Police said they had just found the bodies of three young men who were sucked into a sewer on the Tien River.

The three victims were found about 50m from the initial accident site, including: D.HH (23 years old), MVPQ and THD. (both 22 years old), all residing in Tan Tay hamlet, Tan Phu commune, Chau Thanh district.

After the salvage, the authorities completed the procedures according to legal regulations and handed over the bodies to their families for burial.

According to initial information, on February 3, the three young men and LMH went swimming and picked water hyacinth on the Tien River, near the Cay Duong ferry terminal.

When the group swam across the drain from the Tien River to the abandoned fish pond, they were said to have been sucked into the drain. Mr. H. escaped and tried to rescue his three friends but failed. Afterwards, H. swam to shore, called for help and reported the incident.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Ben Tre Provincial Police and Chau Thanh District Police coordinated with relevant units and local authorities to actively organize the search.

At the time of the incident, due to the rising river water, the suction force of water from the river into the fish pond was very strong, so search and rescue work encountered many difficulties.
