The heavy rain that lasted for more than an hour caused severe flooding in many areas. Strong winds blew away many signs and knocked down trees.
Previously, at 9:30 p.m., the Southern Hydrometeorological Station issued a warning of rain with thunderstorms and lightning for the entire Ho Chi Minh City area.
According to the agency, monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning shows that thunderstorms are developing strongly and causing thunderstorms in almost all districts of Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, thunderstorms in Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Vung Tau are also moving towards Ho Chi Minh City.
This agency warns that tonight, thunderstorms will continue to cause rain with thunderstorms and lightning in the entire Ho Chi Minh City area, with some places experiencing moderate to heavy rain. After that, the clouds will move and expand in an east-northeast - west-southwest direction to other neighboring districts and counties, causing thunderstorms.
At the same time, the storm clouds that are currently present in the neighboring provinces after moving to Ho Chi Minh City will continue to cause showers and thunderstorms for the entire city. Rainfall is generally from 10-30mm, in some places over 40mm. During thunderstorms, beware of lightning and strong gusts of wind of about level 5-7 (8-17m/s).
